I love eating yam and cassava a lot, but I've been told by the doctor to cut down on the consumption of these carbohydrates. Please what other energy giving food can I take as an alternative? I've just been placed on anti diabetic drugs and in hypertensive. And my blood group is O negative. Thanks

What other energy giving food can I eat?
A lot of diabetics are having good success with the Low Carb High Fat diet. Basically you cut out the carbs and replace that energy with fat which doesn't spike your blood sugar the way carbs do. For information on this style of eating you could check out dietdoctor.com. Good luck.

Your doctor is suggesting you what is beneficial for you...cutting down carbs is the best strategy to control blood sugar.
You may ask your doctor which other things you can consume to balance the deficit.
Would an appointment with a dietician be covered by your insurance, provided by your medical center? A dietician would be the best person to advise you on diet issues, obviously.
