I have been in hospital for 2.5 weeks after a sudden bout of diarrhoea (16-17x a day), abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
I just had a sigmoidoscopy which showed colitis but the dr’s are still unsure whether this is IBD or due to an infection (Stool samples were negative for infection but calprotectin was >1800).
I will be getting a colonoscopy and endoscopy this week.
Has anyone been diagnosed with sudden colitis. What was the cause and treatment plan?
I am currently on IV steroids but really dont want to be on steroids long term.
Any advice would be appreciated
