What meds does anyone take for pan ulcerative Colitis? And does it go in remission? Also is urgency a major side effect? I can’t go anywhere because of urgency. Thanks
Pan ulcerative colitis: What meds does... - Crohn's and Colit...
Pan ulcerative colitis
I take Asacol and have been in remission for around 20 years.
Urgency is a symptom rather than a side effect, it should go when you are settled on treatment.
Hi
pancolitis simply means active crohns/colitis in the entire large bowel -rectum to terminal ileum. Treatments are the same as patchy disease.
Urgency is def a symptom - I always take a 'bum' bag with me where ever I go. It just includes clean knickers and wipes and a plastic bag for soiled knickers.
I have had periods of remission whilst on biologics (infliximab and humira) but after about 2 years my body decides to react against it. Iv also been on mercaptopurine, azathioprine, asacol, sulphasalazine, and pentasa. Steroids are a no-no as I get steroid psychosis!. Im currently on methotrexate injection after coming off humira a yearago, but my scope a few weeks ago shows I too have active pancolitis so Im awaiting an outpatients appointment xx
My mum is on prenisolone last four weeks bein weaned down from 40g daily on 20g now and stool have thickened and arent gettin any worse on asacolon too but they didnt seem to help bowela but did settle the diarrehea less often, she was back for clinic yesterday and colitis is in lower left of bowel poylyp he removed is pre cancerous but no cancer present in it.he did follow up bloods and asked for stool samples for elastase and choloprotein.elastase was low if its low again is this normal in people with colitis.my mum is seventy
Thank you
