Frozen Embryo transfer and Ulcerative Colitis

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had experience of IVF/Frozen Embryo transfer as well as having Ulcerative Colitis? I’m having my Frozen Embryo transfer (FET) next Friday and have had to ring the hospital today about the Cyclogest pessary, all sorted now! And ready to go ! I take Octasa for Ulcerative Colitis and am on buserlin , progynova and soon to be Cyclogest for my up coming FET. I was diagnosed with UC in January 2017 so it’s still quite new, last cycle of FET got cancelled as ended up in hospital with UC ( didn’t know what it was at the time !) but now have the diagnosis. Any advice gratefully received ! Thank you !

I have UC and had 2 cycles of IVF the second one being frozen embryos, which resulted in my twins😍 i was on colazide ( 6 a day ) but nothing else. It shouldn’t affect your IVF but I dont know much about the drugs you are taking. Good luck and feel free to ask me any thing.

Thank you so much for sharing your success story! Did you have a natural FET cycle ? I am having my transfer on Friday - I’m 36 so only one of my two Frozen Embryo’s is going back. Any tips /suggestions for post transfer ? Many thanks.

Not sure what you mean by natural FET cycle, I still had some injections but not so many. I was also 36 when I had them. Advise is to stay as relaxed and calm as possible, and take it easy for the next couple of weeks post transfer. I did not feel pregnant at all and was convinced that my positive pregnancy test result was a phantom one, didnt believe it until I had a scan. My frozen eggs were only B grade eggs whereas my first attempt were A grade eggs, so I think its just about getting the right environment for the eggs rather than the quality of them. Will they not put 2 eggs back? Good luck, let me know how it goes👍🏽

Thank you for the info, a natural cycle has no medication but if you had injections yours sounds like my current hrt cycle. I’ve downloaded a few relaxation apps to do during the wait ! I plan to rest up and keep everything crossed ! The clinics policy is only to transfer one embryo if under 37, so need to make this one stick ! Will keep you posted ... roll on Friday !

Good Luck with your journey. My partner and I were trying for a baby for 2 yrs but have found out I cant have children any more (i have a daughter from prev marriage) Im too old to have IVF on NHS and we cannot afford private. Iv since had operation to remove bowel adhesions caused by the crohns and had fallopian tube removed. We are happy that we have my daughter and acknowledge not everyone are so lucky.

I was so interested in your letter and have been trying to find out where the transplant can be done but it seems difficult down here in the South. Good luck with everything.

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately my FET was unsuccessful last year but I still have one remaining Frozen Embryo so live in hope . I had a nasty flare up of Ulcerative Colitis and am on a drug called Azathioprine which is an immuno suppressant so at present am unable to have another FET cycle until my UC is stable enough to come off the Azathioprine. I wish you every success with your journey xx
