Hello Everyone. I have similar problems like many others here. Everything started a year ago with pain in the right lower quadrant of abdomen and diarrhea for like a month and then I never had diarrhea like that again. On January I had a fresh blood in my stool for like a week. Went to GI, they did CAT scan with constrast, colonoscopy and endoscopy and they said the only thing they saw was interneal hemorroids which was a cause of blood in a stool. After that I have never had blood again. Something constipation for like 2 days, then somethimes I have a blowel movement 4 times a day, somethime once a day. Btw after colonoscopy GI said its IBS probably since everything else was fine blood test, C reactive protein, stool tests. So pain went away, I was living the life and then 2 months ago pain was back, I had a pain for like a month, then pain went away again, but this time the biggest problem was crazy insane nausea all day all night. All the time I had apetite and I was not vomiting and I was not realizing anything so I was not on the diet. I went to GI again, I was in a hospital for 4 days, they did MRI ENTEROGRAPHY and after that they said that they see a little bit of like inflamation in that right lower are of abdomen so they did colonoscopy again, and GI said he saw a little bit like very mild reddness in that area where small intensine meets colon and also they saw that I have like some growings on the scar where I had Appendix surgery 20 years ago and that Is probably the cause of the pain. They did stool test on all possible bacterias and parasites and nothing has shown. The only thing that had shown was stool test for Calprotectin was 58.9....GI said that is like nothing, but for any case he repeated the test again and now I am waiting for results. Somethimg that I had never experienced before was like a week ago when I had painfull cramps like I’m gonna have bowel movement but I cant. That day I had a bowel movement 5 times, but the stool was very hard and painfull to my hemorroids. And then last night, I was feeling great all day and then suddenly around 11:30pm I got those painfull crampings(not to painfull), I was going to the bathroom 3 times from midnight to 2am, stool was just soft since I am taking miralax, but was very bad smelling not like usual and I saw some like brown I don’t know is that a mucus or pus....Today morhing again like that first stool and then second stool this morning I have not seen that brown mucus, pus or whatever it is. Nause is still here, although not so crazy like before, somethimes I don’t have it for like 2 days and then It comes back. I have nause since last night, during the day it comes and goes, but it’s very anoying and honestly I am getting really concerned because to me this does not look like IBS, or maybe I have IBS and IBD. Should I be concerned about my stool Calprotectin test 58.9???? Also they did biopsy during colonoscopy and result was inflamation unspecified type, request firther investigation. I am so so scared that I have Chrons and Colitis. What do you guys think?? Thank you
IBD : Hello Everyone. I have similar... - Crohn's and Colit...
IBD
- Blood tests
- Biopsy
- Endoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- C reactive protein test
- Intestinal and stomach conditions
- Surgery
- Miralax
- Calprotectin test
With a Calprotectin reading of 59, it would be unlikely to be IBD, although it is possible. They and you are doing everything right, in taking further samples and tests to check the results. Please bear in mind that even if you do have IBD, I was diagnosed with it at age 11, I am now 63, so, yes it is inconvenient, it is annoying at times, but it needn't be a total burden, and stop you living life to the full, if you want. I have a son, a grandson and another grandchild on the way, so you really can have a full life, and my wife has been with me for over 40 years now, so it needn't mess up your love life either.
Thank you so much for your answer. Honestly the only thing that is concerns me now is Nausea, it is so anoying, but it also might be related to my Gastritis although I do not feel it like it’s comming from my belly, it feels like it’s comming from the lower level of my stomach(intestines)....
Just got resultst from repeated Calprotectin test and it’s 275 ......
oh, well you seem to be heading towards IBD, in my opinion, but at least you're doctors will now have something to work on and with. The treatments have come on, leaps and bounds, since I was diagnosed, in 1967.( Wow, that seems like it's the dark ages, when you write the date down.) Keep us posted with the rest of your results, and, remember, if you have any questions or problems you can always post on this site. Good luck
Thank you so much for your replies. What do you think it could be next step now? Colonoscopy again or maybe to repeat the Calprotectin test again? I do not have any pain, no diarrhea....I have constipation and nause for like a month....
Personally, as you have very few major symptoms, it may be better to treat your symptoms rather than keep looking to put a name to it. Initially I would ask for anti nausea relief from your doctors, then decide if the pain and diarrhoea need looking into as well.
Repeating the calprotectin test, if it was high, wouldn't help towards a diagnosis. Have you had the scope coming from the mouth downwards, as well as the colonoscopy?
I had endoscopy and colonoscopy on February this year and only thing they saw was a mild gastritis, colon and small intestine was perfect. Then 3 weeks ago I had MRI enterography and they saw something on that connection with small intestine and colon(where somethime I feel pain, right lower side of abdomen), after that they immediatelly did colonoscopy and they said they saw a mild redness of that area, they did 15 biopsys samples, no bacterias, no celic...diagnosis was inflamation unspecified type, need further investigation. After that they did Calprotectin test it was 58.9...then couple of days after that they repeated Calprotectin it was 275. I feel good, exept a little bit of Nausea with weakness somethimes they gave me ONDANSETRON 4mg for Nausea and I take Mirax for constiptation and because my stool is really hard. Friday I have appointment with GI again, Let’s see what he is going to say after this Calprotectin test of 275...
Just had another Colonoscopy today, doctor took couple of samples for biopsy and remowed one polip(4mm size)... He said that whole colon is mildly mucose or like a little red like inflamation. That does not concerne me a lot. My biggest concern is NAUSEA. All the time, except when I do not eat. I have apetite, I do not vomit, but this NAUSE is insane, somethimes I have it all night. I have it for a month and a half. It’s only good if I eat soup, yogurt, or just a little little pieces of food. I do not have any pain in my stomach, and honestly I have a feeling like Nausea is comming from my small intestine. Is that even possible???? They did all possible tests on me and nobody can’t figure out what is a cause of Nausea. Doctor GI said he doesn’t think that that kind of Nausea is related to Colitis if I even have it. Please help, any advise can be helpfull. Thank you
I normally advocate no fizzy drinks as part of my regime to follow, however, in your case, I think I would try a glass of fizzy with my meal, (every time you eat), take small mouthfuls and chew very well and avoid the normal suspect foods (Brussel sprouts and baked beans, peanuts and sweetcorn etc.)
I tried everything, they even gave me a Creon(digestive enzimes) and it does not help. I literally can eat soups, yogurt, coocked rice, tost bread in a small amounts and even that somethimes is causing Nause, and the Level of Nausea is so bad that put im in a bed and give me such a bad weakness that I can’t do nothing. This condition has been last for almost 2 months now. I wake up in the morning with Nausea literally. Do you think Crohn’s or Colitis can do this to me or it might be something completely different???
The reason I suggested a fizzy drink every time you eat, is to try to stop the nausea. It can be carbonated water or maybe a simple lemonade, just to try to adjust your taste buds and enzymes in your gut. I have no idea whether or not it would indicate Crohn's or Colitis as both these diseases affect everyone in a different way, which is why they are so difficult to diagnose and more so to treat.
Just got the call from hospital, resultst of Biopsy are normal, no signs of Colitis.... even though I have Calprotectin 275...and this crazy Nausea does not want to go away. This is the dead end for me. What to do now???? Is this can be some bacteria in stomach like Candida or E. Pylori????
