Today we visited the gastro specialist, he examined my husband from top to bottom, as my husband have hemorroids, the doctore found swollen fissure he said not to worry about anything as everything is fine, and the blood test are normal. The only things is high faecal calprotecin and he adviced us to have stool test again, and after that he again wants us to meet for consultant. He said that there may be bowel inflamation, lets see the stool test and some test again and only go for colonscopy after a month.

Because my husband is feeling normal and ok after having simple diet plan,no gas,no bloat.

Hi Avatsu... I am in the same boat as your husband.

I was recently diagnosed with complicated diverticulitis, followed by two acute attacks. They doctors advised I get a resection to avoid any future complicated attacked that can result in an emergency surgery.

Went for a colonoscopy and they found patches of inflammation in all parts of the colon... Moving forward my calpro has been above a 1000 for 8 weeks now and the diagnosis from calpro came out to be negative for crohns and UC... What is annoying is the docs categorize this as non specific colitis.

I inquired if this can develop into crohns or UC and the doctor has said there is a chance but only a repeat colonoscopy can confirm that after 1 year.

This waiting game causes stress and is super annoying.. I can only imagine what you and your husband are also going through..

A high calpro can maybe also be a result of higher stress levels?

Sorry to hear about your condition. Yeah it is very stressful,,knowing that something is wrong in your body and getting the scary results brings more negativity.

At the moment , he has given stool test again so might get result by monday or tuesday. Lets see if the faecal calprotecin has reduced or not, if not then we will go for colonscopy asap.

He is having gas and bloating little bit..

Thankyou for your message,be strong and keep in touch. Sharing things makes me feel lighter, this forum has given me strength, feels like i am not alone..

Takecare😃

Has your husband gone for Colonoscopy yet?

What's his calpro reading at?

Nope not yet...

His was 922...before four weeks..but the blood results were all normal..and he doesnt have pain ..so the gastro doc said there is nothing to worry and rush for colonscopy,,he said to check again and if its elevated again then will go for colonscopy..

Keep me posted. I've had a colonoscopy initially that showed inflammation. Biopsy came neg for crohns and UC for the time being.. That is whats annoying.. The docotors refer to this at non specific colitis and can not completely rule out UC and Crohns.

I've had no pain or any other symptoms (blood in stool, diarrhea, etc) hence the doctor says it's post infectious/non specific colitis.

I just still loose sleep over the idea of having this be the beginning stages of crohns/UC.

Not sure if any doctor on this forum can give me a better idea of whether I should be concerned about UC/Crohns even after my case.

What made you to do faecal calprotecin test?

My husband visited for normal check , and got that scary result...

So the doctor have not given any advice to you like about diets or any medications to make you feel easy?

My husband he is having coconut water, probiotic youghurt, bananas, rice ,potato, and pomegranate juice , i heard that it reduces inflamation in your stomach.

What made me go for calpro was the inflammation visible after the colonscopy....

Been going to see if the inflammation goes down or any symptoms start.

It's confusing tbh

It will cause more problem .

Agreed. Stress doesn't help. But vague terminology used I the medical world doesn't help either.

"non specific colitis or a possibility of the starting stages of IBD" also does not help with stress...

I think the general though of uncertainty and lack of clarity stresses one as well
