A long time yesterday spent digging up weeds.. couch grass, goose grass, buttercups, red campion, all attempting to take over from the plants. I‘m wondering whether to just give up and incorporate the flower bed into the lawn. So by early evening I was already aching a bit, but I’d already missed my scheduled day thanks to a migraine in the morning and then more weeding. Also, the dog hadn’t had a proper walk, so I got ready and drove the two minutes to the cinder track where she can run off lead. It turned out to be a really good choice. It was deserted for the whole of the first half of the run. A little bit of sunshine remaining, but it was cool and pleasant between the trees and mostly hawthorn hedges lining the fields either side - just a few horses watching me curiously.

Slightly easier than the last run, to start with. I’m always more relaxed when it’s just me, or me and the dog, and I didn’t see another soul during the first half of the run. A very slow jog, trying to keep to a low heart rate, and I succeeded until 16 minutes in. I was just feeling smug, thinking I could easily keep this up to the end, when I saw a chap coming towards me, chatting on his phone, with a loose dog. I took a quick decision to divert to one side and up onto a grassy path, to avoid the possibility of any dog issues. That turned out to be a big mistake as the grassy path was unmown and very uneven. I was stumbling rather than running in thick grass and my heart rate went right up! I found a gap in the hedge and diverted back as soon as I was past the man, but my heart rate refused to come down again. By the time I got near the end it was clear it wasn’t going to come down, so I gave up trying and decided to put in a bit more effort instead.I managed to find enough energy to speed up a bit for the last minute.. naughty, and gasping afterwards, but nobody there to see me, and so happy that I could!

🍏🙌👏🎶 Well done PeggySusi.. love your run description… even felt my heart rate go up a bit at the thought of the dogs clashing and you having a fall on that uneven grass!! So good you were able to divert back and finish in style! Run done ✅

Haha yes I’d expected shortish grass but of course all the rain recently has made it long and lush..🙄 - at least it would have been a soft landing 🤣

Thanks, a very short diversion.. it would have been a lot less stressful to just stop and put the dog on her lead, but on these runs I feel I’ve not done it properly if I stop in the middle and start again - daft I know 🤷🏻‍♀️

It is daft, but I’m the same. seem to remember in C25K the instruction was not to stop. On much longer runs I will slow down significantly to drink water or eat something - even then I don’t like to walk. If I come to a road I need to cross I’ll run along the side of the road until it’s safe to cross! And I know it’s daft …. 😊

Oh well done! Once something causes your heartrate to spike it's really hard to bring it back down, I had similar recently when a bike pacing a fast runner overtook me and made me jump.You had a good run though and it's fun to speed up at the end when you can 😁

Thanks, yes, usually I’m just desperate for the run to end.. very unusual for me to have any energy left to speed up, so maybe I am improving! 🤞☺️
