Running Sticks!

Well this afternoon's run is going to be a bit different I'm on a course of antibiotics that's making me very wobbly but I don't want to lose the momentum of week one ha ha so I'm gonna run with my long walking poles and see how I go.I have real difficulty running as slowly as I need to and I'm wondering how others manage that? I tend to sprint.

Running with sticks? Are you sure you won't trip up?

On the subject of speed, you should be running at a pace you can carry on a conversation. You won't get far on the plan unless you slow down, could you sprint for 30 minutes or longer? If you don't have a running buddy, how about singing? I've heard some people even pray quietly, what ever suits really.

🍏 sorry to be the one that says the runs will wait but it’s not a good idea to run while on antibiotics!

When you are back again run slowly/ comfortably so you can breathe easily & hold a conversation!

Get well soon & while you wait it out read our pinned posts. Interesting articles there that will help you. Let us know how you get on xx

Welcome to the forum! So sorry you’ve been unwell. I know from bitter experience that you’re much better waiting until you’re feeling better to go for your run. It’s frustrating but you’ll be back more quickly if you take some time to recover. There’s a helpful article linked in a post I wrote while I was ill and miserable about missing runs..,

I found the questions particularly helpful to think through and guide my return.

There’s a useful guide to the program here too:

Curlygurly2 is spot on about pace.

Wishing you loads of good luck with your recovery and your return to the programme when you’re ready.
