W6R1 - Well, THAT was fun... (insert laughing emoji)

I read all the posts about this run and as I'm sure others did, I went no it totally looks easy compared to W5R3? This is gonna be a cake walk, oh yeah, watch me go.

Then I wanted to take all the posts I'd read about this run and send a virtual "I'm not worthy" to you for even THINKING this would be easier than you'd said it was. That your struggles were probably me over worrying like W5R3, I'd be like 'what's the biggy?'

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

To the post that said their legs felt like lead? Oh definitely! When did my legs outweigh airplanes?

To the ones who said they were very tired early on? I just wanted to take a nap right there, in the dirt where I was running.

WHEN did 5 minutes become 3 hours? And 8 minutes a lifetime?

I finished, admittedly I waited too late in the morning to run, as a Californian living in Scotland, I can't believe I'm going to say this but, it was genuinely too hot and the area where I run was overrun with photobugs (I'm a photographer so I understood) because the local swans have been showing off their 9, yes 9, new babies. So the crowd, the heat and of course...the run contributed to me just being glad to say, I did it.

Let us see how the rest of week six goes?

Any tips welcome... honest.

xx

I hear that Stamp Collecting can be fun... :-)

Incidentally if Dr Cari is around in the morning could he just carry me around W6R2 on his shoulders?

I can offer a Jelly Baby of his choice of colour if that helps....

You get an EJB..... :-)

Yeah that's a toughy. As the great Iannodatruffe says - it's because it's your longest work out to date - but they sneakily break it down so you don't realise. R2 is the same - but I found R3 easier than 1&2. You'll smash it - honestly- you got through R1 so you can do this. You got this. Good luck & keep us posted.

Well done. We can only tell it like it is. You have to experience it for yourself 😄. Spoiler Alert - that's the last of the "surprises". You're on your way to that graduate badge 👏

Love it!!!! I was going to head out the other morning before the thunderstorms at 4.30... but the last time I did that....there was an incident with a badger :) Do not ask!!!

sallenson profile image
sallensonGraduate in reply toOldfloss

Tell me, Oldfloss , have you ever had any incidents with potentially-savage nocturnal mammals?

in reply toOldfloss

Oh i'm intrigued now! What happened with the Badger!!??

It’s a toughie but you’re building your stamina, so just believe in yourself and take the next run slow and steady. You’ll be fine I’m sure.

I did Week 6 run 1 on Wednesday and found it really tough - legs like lead! Did Run 2 yesterday morning before 9 and found it much better. It was funny because I ran along the river - nice and flat but there were so many other runners all of whom smiled and said hello. I thought 6 weeks ago I wouldn't have been up and out at that time of the morning running with them all!

You've given me hope for tomorrow!! :-)

Found the two lots of 10 better than the shorter runs in Run 1. Though I did find it hard to restart after walking break but did get going after a bit. Best of luck - you can do it 📣👍👟

Honest. 👍😉😁

Some of the long runs feel....well, long. But W6 R1 really does feel hard and disconnected. I found it really uncomfortable.

I trust you. I trust all grown ups. It's for the best. But I really didn't enjoy R1 :-) R2 tomorrow however I am going to smother it in slow kisses and it will melt away happy! :-)
