It’s been a long time since I’ve run regularly. Spurred on by Folkylass ’s RED January I decided to get out there again. My first run was 2km downhill on Wed, followed by 2km on the flat today.
I still find it hard to reach escape velocity and get out the door, but hope to manage a couple of short runs per week, increasing the distance once the weather warms up and the days are longer.
Happy running everyone 😊

That’s great Baddie! The motivation is definitely the hardest part. I’m trying to do some purposeful movement every day to make it a habit. Some days and/or weeks have been harder than others, to say the least 😆
Spring must be on the way, I was listening to birdsong at 4.00 this morning. Either that, or the LED street lights are confusing the birds. Well done BaddieThePirate ; good see to you back on the canal path - maybe not if you went downhill! You know that the hardest part is getting out the door.
Way to go BTP! I think the only time I manage escape velocity is going home from work 😃. The days are definitely getting a bit longer, aren't they, which is very welcome.
Hi BaddieThePirate. Firstly …..thank you ! I’m so pleased that I have been able to inspired you, because of my RED January. Secondly …..Well done ✅ on get out the door. I’m sure that you will succeed on you runs especially as like you say the weather will indeed become warmer.
As for me I haven’t been out yet since my Red January. Have been having a few issues with our oldest Labrador ( he’s 12) . Unfortunately he has started to deteriorate and become poorly these past few days. This started as a nose bleed , sickness so a visit to the vet . Investigations would require an anaesthetic and as he is old it wouldn’t be a great idea. However he still eats and drinks but is sleeping a lot more deeply.( Nose bleed and sickness for now has subsided ) Vet prescribed some pain relief.
However last night we were up with him from 3 in the morning till 5 and the same the night before so we are rather tired. So if he becomes worse then it’s back to the vets . Hubby and I hope he may pass in his sleep which would be lovely for him…..
So tomorrow I’m hoping to get out on the trails again ….fingers crossed.
Anyway once again we’ll done on your progress.👍✅👏👏
It’s so hard to kick start a return to regular running isn’t it? I lost my mojo about 18 months ago…in the end I bit the bullet and restarted C25k. Being on a plan really helped me to get out the door.
I’ve also found the Nike Run Club’s guided runs useful…there’s a variety of shorter runs to choose from. These include a range of “Headspace” runs, but I would say that all the runs are pretty motivational…after all, you chose to turn up and start the run!😉
Anyway, it’s good to see you out there running again…the days are definitely getting longer 🌞
