Consolidation w3 r2 - Gremlins 1 : 1 Me

This morning started out bad. My alarm rang at 5am, I hit snooze 4 times 😱. Outside looked wet and miserable. My bed was warm. The dogs weren't awake yet. Eventually I dragged my sorry backside out of bed and dressed for running. Got the dogs ready and headed out for my pre-run dog walk. Rosie (my dog that had a stroke) walked really slowly this morning, she wasn't feeling it either.

Got back, fed the dogs, worried because Rosie wasn't eating either (turns out she just wanted to eat it somewhere warmer than the back garden). By this time, my run alarm had gone off.

So I had a choice, put it off until tomorrow, bt that would throw my routine out. The gremlins were grinning and rubbing their hands with glee. No running today and the routine mucked up, may as well give up now right ?

So I decided to do a quick 2km. I had been playing with the idea for a couple of weeks, and I will accompany my youngest on a Junior parkrun (2km) in August, so I figured I would get one training in. I ran 2km at a reasonably increased pace from my usual snail pace, knowing that I didn't have to keep it up for the 30 mins. I actually enjoyed it.

The upshot is that I didn't do 30 mins, so the gremlins got a point, but I did get a fast (for me) 2k in, so I get a point too.

We'll call today a tie : )

Tie breaker on Friday to close out my 3 week consolidation period before going to juju's 10k plan

Well done with this. You definitely defeated those pesky gremlins by not giving up. How was the faster pace?

I enjoyed it. As I said, fast for me, still not 5k in 30 mins pace but 1km/hour faster than my snail on crutches crawl

What seems significant is not the actual speed, but the fact that you are now a strong enough runner to accelerate/adapt without any problems.

Always so kind...accelerate makes it sound a lot faster than it was

Be gone gremlins, even in the rain. Well done.

Well done, I had similar yesterday and made a decision to have a short run of either 20 minutes or 3km, whichever came first. And I experimented with longer warm up walk to see if it made a difference to the start of the run (it did feel a bit easier but not massively). The fact that I had DECIDED to make it a short one felt great and I really enjoyed the run. It's amazing to me that I am now thinking of 20 minutes as a "short run"!

I experimented with a long warm up walk on Sunday, threw in 2 dances too to get everything moving (yes, I was alone in my basement dancing :) ) and then went into my normal 5 minute warm up walk and then ran 5k. I could even have carried on but didn't want to risk injury by going too far over my normal run.

I think a longer warm up might be on the cards for the long run on juju's plan when I start that :)

Ooooo, warm up dancing. There’s a thought! 🕺 💃

I figured it was not stretching too much, but got everything moving :D

I might just try that 👍 It’s got to put a smile on your face before you start.

Brilliant...good choice backintime. Mixing things up is good for us, as you will see when you start the Magic 10.

You 1 Gremlins 0 ✔😊xxx
