Has anyone re-started running after surgery, especially knee surgery? I had an op to repair a torn #meniscus but keep feeling twinges around the joint which makes me feel nervous about attempting to run again.

Running after surgery
Well first of all..what do your doctors say?Because everyone is different, then even the same ops will have different outcomes...
If the doctors say you can run...then if you are feeling twinges, then they may need to be checked out with them???
Welcome back to the forum.
Many have returned to running after knee surgery but extra care and strengthening exercise may be necessary for success.
We recommend that anybody who has doubts about whether C25k is suitable for them should consult with the medical professionals who know you and your case.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
I had surgery for a meniscal tear about 6 years ago and it still wasn’t quite right after 4 years - it felt inflamed inside and was occasionally uncomfortable. I started C25K during lockdown and IT GOT BETTER. And I’ve kept running and it has stayed better, although I can still feel it if I stand for a long time. Now this is just my experience, and I recognise that it could be coincidence, mental, placebo effect etc but I don’t really care, it feels like it’s really improved and it’s worked for me. I was very careful and took short steps to align correctly below my hips. You don’t say how long ago you had the op, but if it was a while ago, a sports physio might help, certainly for an assessment and for strengthening exercises.
