It seems odd but quite often after a run I arrive home quite chilled and have to go back to bed to warm up. This morning it also took a hot shower to really make me feel better.
I have an under active thyroid so I wonder if that has something to do with it?
Does anyone else find they're unexpectedly cold?

OMG I thought it was only me who got this. I’ve tried googling it but found nothing. For me it’s mainly my legs and bum that go cold. But this morning I was bodily cold and only a hot shower would warm me up. I have not been diagnosed with any kind of thyroid problem. Sorry I have no answers, but feel better knowing I’m not alone!
It was very cold Bluebird, and I get cold when tired, I was awake from 2.30am and went running just after 4am so it could be a combination. Hope you stay warm.
I’m the same, i have a fleece waist coat that I wear when it is really bad after my bath when I get home . It just helps to keep my core warm. I get it worse after a hard run and then eating something cold. I also am on medication for an under active thyroid. My doctor thinks it is exercise induced raynaulds. I often take thin gloves out with me on long runs as it has kicked in while I have been out which makes using the keys when I get home hard 😀. The longer time you have been running the less it happens as your body feels less under pressure. Mine comes back worse if I am working on upping my distance or working on my pace. Next time you have a review for your thyroid just mention it to your doctor/ nurse.
I have Raynaud's too so it might be connected. As I have mentioned before I get cold when tired. I also have Rheumatoid arthritis so just happy I can run at all 😀
I'm like this too CharlieChurch, also have RA so this may the cause. What with the hot flushes don't know whether I'm coming or going!! Still love this running thing though 🏃♀️😊
I always say I run in spite of my body. 😂. I have osteoarthritis, hypothyroid and a sliding heart rate but I do love a half marathon 😀. Take everything slow and steady and use the things that can help. Have an extra fluffy jumper to put on when you come home, a hot cuppa tea and rest on your rest days. The body is great at adapting given the right amount of time, learning to run has been one of the most positive things I have ever done. Happy running. Rfc x
I'm the exact opposite of you I take forever to cool down 😊
it seems that a few people have the same issue who have underactive thyroids. It would make sense as exercise uses up a lot of the active thyroid hormone known as T3. It would be worth posting on thyroid uk for further advice and help to optimise your thyroid treatment. The uptake of thyroid hormones can be affected by lots of things such as Vit amin D status or iron levels.
