Well I started running for first time in my 71 years of life last August. I had had a hip replacement 2 years before but was otherwise healthy. Now nearly one year on I ran 5K. Not terribly fast and certainly more than 30 minutes. But I did it.
I want to thank everyone and the whole programme for the support and encouragement I have received. It has made a huge contribution.

Congratulations π, it really is an achievement, you should be feeling very pleased with yourself, especially after hip surgery! It's good to know the age barriers are being pushed back - encouraging to younger and older runners alike. Best wishes βΊοΈ
Very impressive and inspiring. Just goes to prove that age is not a barrier and older people can do anything they please if they want to enough. Have loads of more great runs π
My wife aged 74 wanted to start running again but after 2 knee replacements and a hip replacement , she has been advised not to. Has to be content with walking.
Walking is good too. She has been through the mill. The research evidence on running with a hip replacement is mixed but I take it easy. Knees are probably different.
