W5R3 - what a feeling!

I didn’t feel the need to walk once. I am truly amazed at my body!!

I’ve seen the posts about W6R1 so I am going to have a good old rest for the next couple of days, but I am more determined than ever to graduate and run those whole 5 kms with a big smile 😊

The important thing with W6R1 is to remember not to start off at too quick a pace, having gained confidence from completing week 5.

Don't worry about the distance. Most graduates never reach 5km. The scheme is misnamed and 30 minutes three times in the final week is the only requirement for graduation.

Thanks! I meant my personal goal, post graduation, is to gradually increase my distance to 5km. My daughter was a marshall for Parkrun pre covid and I would love for her to be able to see me run across the finish line. Of course I’m not expecting that to happen for a while!

I wouldn't over think the W6R 1&2. While many of us found them harder than the W5R3 was, It is only two runs. After that you've got four 25 minutes runs to look forward to.On the following day of my W5R3, while I was aware that my legs had done a lot more work than usual, I wasn't suffering.

I loved doing my first solid run too. I found the start of week 6 to be fine 👍🏼, not easy but not too hard either. I think the warnings are just about not getting over excited about being so awesome, racing off and scuppering yourself.

If you tackle it fresh, I don't doubt you'll finish with a smile 😊

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but as you have said you will be very careful about that run, run it slowly and you will be 🆗.

Don't worry about W6. Just take it easy and remember that it isn't a race, it's about time and not speed. Start steadily and carry on that way. Getting to the end of the time is so much more important than how far you have run.At graduation, less than 10% do 5K - and that really doesn't matter one jot.

Slow and steady is the way to go... and then, as you say, build up to 5K in the coming months ready for your daughter to cheer you over the line that Parkrun.
