W5R3 - Feeling accomplished!

I hope you aren't all tired of hearing these w5r3 posts! I love reading every one and I had to share too. I ran for 20 minutes straight today. This is the longest I have ever run in my entire life (almost 40 years)!!! THAT is exciting! I was athletic and strong as a teenager and into my 20s but could never run far. I couldn't get past the burning lungs. By week 3 in the program, my burning lungs were gone. Today, the first 15 minutes was good, the last 5 minutes I had to slow it down even more and really push through, but I made it! I almost shouted for joy at this new milestone (too many people around or I would have). I feel like I overcame a huge mental hurdle and I have no doubts about the rest of my runs now and my ability to do this. Thank you for this program and for all of you spurring each other on.

That run was easily the toughest of the programme for me. You ran for 20 mins; that is amazing. Next time let yourself whoop for joy, the people around you don't know you haven't just run a marathon! 😁

Fantastic feeling isn’t it? Whooping out loud is allowed I did on week 1 run 1 so pleased was I that I was still on two feet and breathing!

From now on it is really nice to run for longer, you don’t have to rev yourself up again after the walks . Good luck with the recast of the programme .

I actually found the split runs of week 6 harder than running 20mins but everyone is different so keep it up and in the words of michael Johnson who has been my buddy all the way through,"You got this!"

Tired? No way! It's such a fantastic feeling, we all want everyone to get there and hearing about it reminds us how it felt!

Wow!! I have just finished W3 and am amazed at the difference even 3 weeks makes! I’m 58 and have never been sporty or able to run, but I love this and your post gives me hope. Today I completed the run and then ran a few minutes more just for fun, what a good feeling! Well done you on yours !! :-)
