Hope your running journeys are going well and for those on the IC keep positive, you will be back to running when the time is right.
It has been over a year since I last posted on here, where does the time go?
I was contemplating whether I should still be on this forum, because my stay on IC has been a very long one.
I’m not ready to say goodbye as it’s such a lovely community on here and my running shoes are tucked safely away for now.
So a little update from the past year. As some of you lovely lot know I kept getting sciatica. Had it on and off since my first pregnancy in 2013.
So I’ve focused on just enjoying my walks and my love of nature and being outdoors.
Last September I was diagnosed with mild to moderate Sleep Apnea and now sleep with a CPAP machine.
I rarely drank alcohol after the diagnosis as advised by the consultant. I have just recently stopped drinking alcohol completely. The CPAP treatment and no alcohol has been a game changer, as I’m less tired and have more energy.
I went back to work in July last year after a wonderful ten years of being at home with my children. I changed my career and absolutely love working part time in a library.
I have continued to have niggles in my back so no running for over a year.
June this year I had the worst episode of sciatica I have ever experienced and got diagnosed with a herniated disc.
After taking three different pain killers, doing daily physio and 9 weeks off work, I am now on the mend and my movement is nearly back to normal.
My physio says running is not off the cards completely but obviously for now the physio, pilates and walks are all I need and should be doing. She said when the time is right to return to running it will be a steady one and it will be short jogs which suits me.
My goals this year are to continue to lose weight, keep up with my physio and pilates to build up my core and strengthen my back.
So this isn’t goodbye. I will be mainly on Active 10 page for now but I will still dip into here when I can to see how you are all doing.
Wish you all the very best in your current and future running goals.
Have a lovely weekend,
Indie Lass
Ps here is one of my favourite pics from one of my walks earlier this year, Love a sunrise! 😀

Wow, Indielass00 you’ve had a journey! There’s no need to say goodbye, and please don’t ever feel you’re not welcome here or you shouldn’t be here because you’re on the IC. Nobody thinks that. It’s just lovely to hear from you.
Those goals of yours sound really sensible and wishing you all the best with achieving them. Looking forward to following your journey over on Active10.
What a tough year you've had, lots of changes and lots of work to get to where you are now. Physio can work miracles and with your steady, gradual improvements you'll be back better than ever. The running can wait, the recovery continues.
By the way, I stopped drinking completely for 15 years, best thing I ever did. You just feel so much better in so many ways, realising that reality is actually pretty good without that buffer that booze can give you. It's not the alcohol that's fun, it's the company you keep. Plus, no hangovers!!! What's not to love
🍏🤗 A beautifully captured sunrise from a lovely lady. I so admire your determination to do whatever it takes to keep mobile & healthy. It encourages me to do the same!! Please do dip in here as often as you want to. We love to hear your updates. Thanks for posting! Xx
Hiya, sorry to hear you've had such a tough time of it, i remember you were having alot of injury problems, anyway, sounds like a new phase in your life now, i'm sure eventualy you'll be back doing some running.I'm still out there, enjoying running, a couple of times a week, dont post on here, although still look to see what others are up to, had thought about deleting, but remember how good, and friendly everyone was, when i started, c25k.
you’ve been around in the forum for much the same time as me and I’ve enjoyed your posts along the way. How disappointing for you not to be able to run just now! Pilates and walks are great and will absolutely be great for your overall health but there is something so great about getting out for a wee run, whatever speed we go. I really hope that with time you can get back to it but it sounds like you’re working really hard and that’s all you can do.
Sounds to me you have had a tough time but you are on the right path for you, we have many phases in life some don’t go to plan but you sound as if you will be back some time in the future so that’s positive. Nothing like walks in nature to keep us fit anyway 🌳
Totally agree Wavy-chick28 and thanks . Have some lovely walks on my doorstep and taking in all is around me whether it’s woodlands, by the sea or fields. Saw a Kestrel the other day ! 😀
Hello there 😁 It's so nice to have a catch up from you. Even though things have been tough for you over the past few months, there is a silver lining shining through your cloud which is an inspiration to all of us who struggle with our health and our capacity to do as much physically as we would like to.
I too have ongoing problems with fatigue and intermittent back pain due to bony degeneration causing nerve pain, although both continue to very slowly improve. I get so much encouragement from people like you who also share their challenges - sometimes it can feel like you're the only one with long standing health issues.
I have also thought about leaving the forum as I often feel have little to say, especially now I have finished with all my Conqueror challenges, but if you don't mind I will cwtch next to you and take comfort from the fact that I'm not alone.
Thank you so much for opening your heart and sharing your experiences, I for one greatly appreciate this.
Wow you have certainly been through the mill this past year. It sounds though like you are on the mend and have a path forward. Keep posting - it's great to hear from folk on the IC working their way back to fitness. I find it motivating in a way, as reading posts like yours make me remember that I am lucky to be able to run and this has great gremlin bashing power for those days when the "will I/won't I's" take hold. Looking forward to hearing about your journey back to fitness and hopefully getting back to reclaiming the C25K!
