So far I've been mostly running a linear route, turning round halfway. It's a lovely route along a disused railway cycle track (with scale models of planets along it to add extra interest!), but as my running distance is getting longer, I fancied a change. Tried the circuit of the track at the local racecourse - very hard going! No changes of scenery and very crowded with runners and walkers. So for yesterday's run I decided to try a loop. Wasn't sure if the distance would be right for the 28 minute run plus warm up and warm down walks, but it turned out to be perfect. Great sense of achievement from seeing my run tracked on Strava. Pace of 12.5 minutes per mile is slightly tortoise-like but suits me at the moment!
Wk 8 run 1 - change of route: So far I've been... - Couch to 5K
Wk 8 run 1 - change of route
They do say a change is as good as a rest, and it’s always nice to shake things up a bit... just for the frisson! Sounds like you’ve some fabulous options. I just love the idea of solar system track! Gauging the run to Venus or or Saturn - totally cool!!.🪐
My current park is just (too) perfect - ideal distance from my door for warm-up and -down, for matching the runs in w7 and w8 especially. I can’t imagine going elsewhere without a huge effort, and the park is preferable to the streets. So I just have to change the direction of my circuit. Amazed at how invigorating that simple switch can be.
Happy running! You’re getting very close.
Trust me, there are many slower than that. You are on under 7'50"" per Km.
You're doing fine.
New routes allow us to have to concentrate on where we are going and less on how we are doing.
Enjoy.
