Wk 8 run 2 new route

So I've been leaving the house and running from there, sadly it incorporates big hills for the first half. The first run this week nearly broke me. So at 6.45am I set off to our local locks and walked the 5min warm up walk to the reservoir. Perfect timing I set off running my 28mins. The Res is 1.1km round according to Google maps, so I was determined to run around 5 times!! I'd just started the 5th lap and Sarah told me I'd done it. My 28mins were up. Like hell they are I said out loud. I carried on and stopped running after 35mins and 29 seconds. I still did a warm down walk as I needed to get back to my car. But according to my run log I ran 3.17miles / 5.10k. I'm proud as punch....now I need a shower!

Well run! That’s a really good time.

Is it??? Really? I thought the idea was 5k in 30mins. I was quite disappointed with myself, but proud I'd done it at the same time. I'm doing a park run at the end of this month. The lady I'm doing it with did the London marathon this year in 4hr 44mins. I think this is going to be the slowest she's ever done

Only 10% of C25kers make it to 5k within 30 mins by the end of the programme.

Sadly it is the one fault with the programme - despite the catchy name, the aim is “three 30 minute runs in seven days”.

I reached about 3.4k within the 30 and it now takes me 44 to do 5k.

That's still good though!! I agree, it's very misleading but wow how far we've come. I can't believe the first 60sec run nearly killed me and look what we're all doing! It's incredible

I know. I still start each run thinking “can I really do this”. In fact, it starts when getting my kit on - why have I got these gorgeous running shoes? Oh yes, I’m a runner 😍
