After Mondays run I listened to Laura and for WK8RN2 decided to change my route today, not a good idea, It started with a large hill, which was fine as I finished my 5 min warm up by the time I got to the top, It was all downhill then for about a mile, thought this is great, easy, I then got back on the regular part of my route to finish, but hadn't thought it through, at the 20 min mark I ran out of my flat back lane and ended up having to go out onto the road, oh shock horror !! I've never run in front of anyone, except the occasional dog walker and now here I was on a busy road and to add to it, it was all up hill, I got as far as the last 5 mins but by that time my Garmin was shouting at me that my heart rate was too high, I could hardly catch my breath, I'm sad to say that I ended up walking the last 2 mins...…...the first time in the programme......gutted !! will stick to what I know for the next run

Change of Route
There is much to be said for sticking with what you know. However don't dismiss the unknown. I've changed my route also. Uphill, downhill (which I thought was cheating) and running in front of strangers on the open road. Who cares if anyone sees you? I used to think of folk saw me walking they would have a little giggle to themselves but stuff em. It's my run and my program. Keep going and I'm sure a 2 minute walk at the end isn't going to ruin anything.
My daughter keeps telling me the same thing, I'm just so slow, I'll do the same route again tomorrow and try not to worry so much about people seeing me and say stuff em, lol, hopefully I'll make up those last two minutes.
When I first started C25K I purposefully used to get up at 5 am and drive to my local park to run knowing no one would be around. If there happened to be a random dog walker I would drive somewhere else. Now my fitness has increased I'm not that bothered what people think.
So glad you have the confidence now to not worry about what other people think, I'll get there eventually
I might go back to running where no one can see me as the weeks progress and the runs get longer. Nobody wants to see a fat bald old bloke jogging round at a snails pace.😂😂😂😂
