Last year I was running half marathons and this year, I am starting back with Couch25K.
After a big move for the husband and I, I haven't been able to find anywhere I love to run and I let it fall by the wayside. I used to be able to run next to the river and so looked forward to the tranquility each run. Now, I am more sidewalks and streets, which doesn't have quite the same appeal. I am done making excuses and miss running so, I dusted off my runners and started back with W3R2 yesterday! It felt good to get out there again! I am looking forward to the motivation I found in this group before, to keep me on track.

Running along streets and busy roads is not the same or nearly as good as running beside a river or in a quiet park, as well as a runner I also cycle, I cycle on the road but I don't run on a road, usually in a park or on off road routes near to where I live.
I would prefer to run 10 miles around a park to 10 miles on a road, last Sunday I went a short 9 mile bike ride on mainly quiet countryside roads, in July I ran 10 miles on that off road route I mentioned, I couldn't ever see myself running that bike ride route, I thought it was longer than the run route but wasn't.
That’s exactly where I am at but I need to find a rhythm or I won’t get back into it. There are a couple of canal banks by me but they are shorter Routes. It may have to work for now!
Part of that bike ride I did last Sunday was along the side of a canal, just over 1 km, the nearest that canal is to where I live is 3 miles, 5K, canal routes are usually flat and mainly runners take advantage of that.
Welcome back kwell! I know how you feel. I’ve let running fall by the wayside for a few months and am trying to find the motivation to get back at it (might be a bit easier now that our prolonged heat wave has finally broke!). Slow and steady, we’ll get there!
I know, me too! I’ve even stopped reading the forum posts because I just found it too hard seeing everyone do so awesome and me being a slug just trying to get through each day. But time to turn it around! I got a run in today and a great evening stroll with my hubby last night. Time to keep it going and, along with exercising, try to get back on the healthy eating bandwagon!
You know the drill, stick to the plan to gently rebuild your condition and resistance to impact while reducing your risk of injury.
Trying to get to run somewhere beautiful and inspiring, even if only infrequently, can make running a joy and a life affirming experience, rather than a slog around urban streets........as you are no doubt fully aware.
