Due to personal circumstances I have be unable to progress after week 5, I'm able to get back to running but it seems a shame to go back to the beginning as I feel I'm able to do more than that, has anyone any experience off restarting in this way

I see that you last posted about two months ago, so if that was the last time you ran, that is quite a break...

How about starting at w1r1 and if that goes well move on to w2r1 and w3r1 until you find your level?

Even if you start again, it's only 9 weeks out of your life!

According to your posts you last ran 2 months ago. If this is the case you may need to go back to the beginning . 😊

Weeeeeeellll... depends whether you're all about getting to the end of this or achieving some fixed thing and then packing it in (which is fine) or whether your objective in doing C25K is the same as the one it was designed for ie to get you running continuously for 30 minutes on a regular, sustainable basis, so, a habit!

It's absolutely not a 'shame' to go back to Week 1, countless people have done that when they've had a break for whatever reason, including when they are still pretty fit (after all, it is intervals and intervals are things elite athletes do as a tool for improvement) There are even people who graduate and then start again at the beginning, just getting a bit faster.

That said, I can completely identify with Week 1 being a big bogey (I am sure sometimes the only thing that gets me out there is the thought of ever having to start again and do Week !) I am not generally a fan of using going back a week or two being any guide to where you are up to, I don't think it gives a person any more information than picking up where they left off, and is too often about not yet having learned that not completing a session is not some moral failure or that means anything about potential. BUT I think you may need to look at just why it was that you stopped where you did and take into account that Weeks 5-6 are quite critical ones for the programme to which the earlier weeks build up, and that might warrant not jumping straight back in where you were.

If you go back to the beginning you may find it all super easy - how massive a confidence boost will that be. Every outing is an achievement it doesn’t matter whether w1or w9. Take care and enjoy whatever you decide.

I redid the whole programme after a similar period off due to injury ( I had completed the programme and consolidated for several weeks)

Redoing it was necessary for me, also underlined how much fitter I was!

I had to start the programme 3 times due to injuries (not running related, all fine now) and recently graduated 9 months after first starting. You can do this, onwards and upwards 😊

Not what you're looking for?
