Second time's the charm as they say. Thank you all for your wonderful help. I did it with the NHS app today and had Laura's soothing voice talking to me when it got tough. I also took the advice about running downhill as much as possible which I managed to do. I eschewed my normal route (which probably wouldn't have made much difference to be honest) in favour of a long stretch by the Hampstead lido that I could run down, except I didn't consider that I'd have to run uphill again once I reached the road. It didn't matter because nothing was going to stop me today. Not even my dodgy lungs!
The asthma nurse at the hospital told me that there is a countometer on the back of my inhaler which was on zero yesterday which means I haven't been controlling my asthma properly since they switched up my medication a few months ago. This would most likely account for why I'm still coughing and wheezing.
I played raucous punk rock music today and some of my favourite bands like The Ramones kept me going. Other bands with questionable monickers provided the kind of noise that makes you want to finish just so you can listen to something more sedate, like Leonard Cohen, which I did on my walk home. How good that felt!
The most important aspect of my running is the wonderful support I have received on here. Thank you all so much for the wonderful help you have given me. It has made all the difference. A few weeks ago I was struggling to run for 3 minutes. Now I can do 20 minutes non stop! WE DID IT!!!!

Thank you! Yes, it was a milestone for sure. I did run extra slow and any time I felt the gradient I was running up was getting too steep I just turned around and ran the other way. I managed to keep going which was the object of today's exercise! I'll try and run my normal route in the coming weeks.
Well done! So pleased for you! 👏👏👏👍 You ran for 20 minutes! How good does that make you feel. You see, having a practice run worked out OK after all 😬.
Think about what you will be able to do when your medication is working as it should!
For now, you can revel in the glow of your amazing achievement of today 👍
Revelling in the glow is the order of the day. It wasn’t easy but I knew I wasn’t going to stop today. I don’t think the rest of the programme is going to be as difficult as today. If you can run 20mins you can run 22 and so on...
