Inhalers.

Thanks everyone for your replies. At the moment l am on Fostair 200/6 and have Salamol for my reliever. My breathlessness has gotten worse in the last few months and am wondering if it is worth speaking to my consultant about a change.

Inhalers.

Hi there for those of us with Bronchiectasis and asthma, which inhalers do you use and which do you feel are the most effective?

Inhaler disposal, please think of the environment.

I was at a meeting today and mentioned was the disposal of used inhalers. We were encouraged to take our used inhalers to the pharmacy for appropriate disposal, where the inhalers are subjected to proper disposal avoiding cross contamination and avoidance of plastic emissions.

Inhalers and tinnitus

Hello! For the past two months I've been taking Fostair 100/6 and now Q-var 100. I've noticed that both drugs, for me at least, lead to bad tinnitus. I've recently got some Alvesco 160 which I'm looking to start soon in the hopes that it won't have this side effect. However, I'm wondering if maybe

Steroid inhalers

Hi, I can’t use steroid inhalers, I have severe reactions to them, and 2 have actually given me an asthma attack, blue lights on the ambulance. No one believed me and 3 times I tried them and the same thing happened each time. I have tried numerous ones, each with a bad reaction.

powdered inhalers

Hi everyone Just wanted to share some good news for me that may help you too. I switched from Seretide 500 Evohaler (the spray/aerosol type). to the Accuhaler (powdered version) in summer last year. I suggested it purely as I was at my wits end, I tried every other inhaler going and none of them worked

Inhaler Recycling

I would therefore encourage readers to take their used inhalers back to their pharmacy (if they are not doing so already) as I suspect many inhalers are recyclable.

Upset about inhalers

The problem is my surgery keeps giving me powder inhalers. I don’t like them. The powder ends up on my tongue (I have a big tongue !). I can’t get the technique right and give me thrush despite rinsing and brushing my teeth every time.

Raw/sore throat & Inhalers

Hi All, I've had asthma for the past 45 yeats and used inhalers both brown and blue for 43yrs. In the last 6yrs I've been suffering with an irritated throat with a lot of white patches and the odd red spot or thread like lines on the roof of my mouth and back of my throat.

Do you have asthma or a lung condition? Have you changed to a lower-carbon inhaler and found it works well for you?

This includes advice on changing to a lower-carbon inhaler and how inhalers affect the environment.

COPD and RLS

I have emphysema and have tried many inhalers and every one of them aggravated the restless legs. I am on Ropinirole, but still and all it got impossible for me to take. Are there any inhalers for COPD that would not aggravate the legs.

Steroid Inhalers and thyroid levels

Does anyone know if steroid inhalers for asthma affect your thyroid levels. I am undergoing investigation for breathlessness and consultant suspects it is late onset asthma. Have been using an inhaler (Fostair) for 3 weeks which thankfully has improved symptoms.

Lingering dry cough

My 5 year old has asthma and is on preventative inhalers. He's recently had a flare, triggered by a virus. The cough got worse and has eased, however, it is lingering, we are on week 2 now. When he runs, dances etc he coughs and if he moves from inside to outside. Any reason why?

Are biologics (Xolair, Dupixent, Nucala or Fasenra) really worth the cost & side effects

For those who take one of these biologics - would you recommend them to someone who has relatively well controlled asthma with use of inhalers?

Stopping Fostair

Im absolutely fed up with the side effects I get with Fostair Nexthaler and most other inhalers and as my GP wont change it im stopping it. I only take 1 puff of 200/6 in the evening so if I need to taper it how can i do so. Im thinking of perhaps taking it every other day
