Week 7 Run 2

Just home from my second run of week 7. Can't believe I'm this close to completing the 7th week 🀣

My third full 25 minutes run done and I'm genuinely so chuffed 😁.

Tracking my runs and managed to do 2.03 miles in my 25 minutes. Most ground I've covered yet but still a bit off the 3 miles needed for 5k. The fact I'm getting closer every run though is definitely good motivation.

Roll on friday for the 3rd run of this week and then I know I'll be ready to tackle week 8 πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Confidence is slowly building!

Well done to everybody taking part in this πŸ₯³

Great running... I ran 3 miles on my first 5k attempt, when you get to that stage, don’t forget the extra 0.1 like I did 🀣

Enjoy closing the week out and then it’s just 2 tiny steps up to the podium.

ClaireLou10 profile image
ClaireLou10Graduateβ€’ in reply toUnfitNoMore

Yeah I know, I wont. I think it will be a while before I'm getting to a 5k in the time though 🀣 well done you!

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduateβ€’ in reply toClaireLou10

I didn’t do it in 30 minutes for a little while... didn’t much care either! Forgetting the 0.1 was incredibly annoying... I forgot to celebrate running the 3 🀣

ClaireLou10Graduateβ€’ in reply toUnfitNoMore

I can imagine. The first run of this week I got to 1.99 miles and I was so disappointed I never made 2 mile 🀣 I know it doesnt even matter but I was kicking myself that I didn't keep going that tiny bit long so it must have been worse for you 🀣

I was ok... done my stretches, laid flat with my legs up a tree... then I saw my achievements and was wondering why I hadn’t been credited a 5k PB. Not good at all! Still, relatively recently neither of us had a mile run in us... I always tend to look back these days... I’m much better at this than that guy!

ClaireLou10 profile image
ClaireLou10Graduateβ€’ in reply toUnfitNoMore

That's a tough one to swallow 😫 but still, it's a hell of a good distance either way lol!

That's exactly it, it's good to compare to where you started and where you are now. It's a rather impressive achievement

Well done! I’m at the same point. Not finding it getting any easier but I’m persevering. How do you track your distance?

Bonnybanks profile image

Hi, I’m at the same stage, but after watching the Japanese slow jogging video on this site (somewhere) I tried that and it made the run much more enjoyable and I covered the same ground as I had in my previous random running style! I just use the health app on my iPhone but need to get a smarter watch or something. Suddenly I am keen for more stats! Good luck.

Don't get me wrong, I struggle with every run. It's not exactly easier but I can definitely see I am progressing. I use an app called track my run. As soon as the 25 minutes starts I start the app then stop it as soon as the 25 minutes is up. This let's me see my pace and distance so I can see whether I am improving that way or not 😊

Me too I’m due to run my 2nd week today . I’ve had a touch of vertigo so a bit hesitant but don’t want to be a quitter. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Just take it easy and remember to listen to your body. At the end of the day that's more important than completing a run.

Good luck πŸ’ͺ

Hi

I’ve just completed W7R3 and in the rain which believe it or not was quite refreshing & I recorded it on Strava as moderate effort. Looking forward to Wk8 as I’m really starting to enjoy my running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Oh you're a run ahead of me! That's good, you can let me know how week 8 goes 🀣

I missed the rain when I went out but there was a good cold wind so that definitely helped keep me cool!

Good luck with your next run πŸ₯³

I am at the same stage and am delighted that I now enjoy running much more than I thought I would. The bit I like the most... that feel good factor afterwards. There is nothing like it. I enjoy a wee cycle too but I think the runners high is unique! Good luck to you!

Such a sense of achievement isnt it! Never thought I'd see the day I wasn't worried about going out to run for 25 minutes 🀣

Never ran before this just got to keep reminding myself how far I've come, and even a bad run is better than no run at all

Well done so far πŸ₯³

I’ve just completed Week 7 and feel exactly like you exhilarated that I’ve achieved this would have never thought this possible but I’m just about thinking I maybe a runner πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ

Oh we definitely are! May be the slowest runners out there right now but still runners. And with every run we can only improve!

Well done for finishing week 7 and good luck going into the 8th. Let me know how you get on πŸ₯³

I doubt I'll do a 5k in 30 minutes but that's okay. Because once you can run 30 minutes easily can get faster. It's not really the pace but the muscles... I'm aiming to get to 45 minutes...

ClaireLou10 profile image
ClaireLou10Graduateβ€’ in reply toDolphin-Girl

No, theres no way I'll get to it either. Not straight away. But every run is progress so we will get there eventually. Slow and steady wins the race 🀣

Completed my week 7, run 2 today too, in the rain and the wind. Changed my route slightly. Hard work to begin with but seemed to get easier. Felt very satisfied when I'd finished. I have running friend too who gives me hints and tips and follows me on strava.

Well done Claire, keep going.
