I’m recovering from surgery and about 4 stone over weight. I don’t know what I must look like! I don’t think anyone would recognise what I am doing, as running... so I go out in the dark. Can’t wait to be at week 8 so I can believe it is possible
Although it was PHYSICALLY very unpleasant, I have felt and appreciated the mental benefit from my wk1r1. I have a lot of stress right now, and it REALLY cleared out my clogged up mind

Good! Slow is great. That’s how we all started. Forget what you’re thinking people are thinking of you. They really don’t think you’re going slow. They’re probably admire you for getting out there and getting fitter. Speed will come eventually, but for now slow and steady is the way to go. Every run you’re progressing. Keep at it
Well done for getting out there. It doesn’t matter a jot what other people think. This is your run and be proud to be doing it. I never believed I could get through each week until about week 5. Just take it one run at a time. Don’t look too far ahead. You really can do this. 🏃🏽♀️
Well done you......you runner!🏃♀️ Well that’s what you are ? Isn’t it?...... your not a sitter! Don’t worry what people think ! You are doing great! Believe me ...everyone of us on this brilliant forum had to start where you are at the moment. It won’t last long and you will get stronger. The main thing is to take it steady ,slow is good, and just enjoy yourself. This is your time, just for you !
Well done you for getting started ⭐️ I’m carrying an extra person in fat (I call her Ethel) and was also really embarrassed about being seen at first. One thing that helps me is to wear normal clothes - old jeggings, ordinary t shirt, fleece. That way I’m not a RUNNER, just a person in a hurry, and people don’t seem to feel the same need to comment.
I love your image of the fat person called Ethal. I have my imaginary person who suggests I may want a biscuit etc. I will name her Ethal from now on. Thank you.
I chose Ethel because it’s a name I really don’t like. Now when I want to do something unhealthy I ask myself “Is this really you or is it just Ethel ?” My husband also has a fat person but his is called Harold. Choose a name you don’t like and have fun pushing them out of your life 😄
I love this concept. I forgive my Ethel for all her poor advice and will try to educate her ...then give her a little shove...on her way and out of my life, too.
That was me 6 months or so ago. I've now completed c25k and done 20 parkruns and feel great. Still a couple of stones overweight; but I've honestly never felt better. It it works for you stick with it!
