1st run of week 6

This has been the hardest run yet. I went into this run feeling happy and confident, thinking that it would be easy. Boy was I wrong it was horrendous. I think a couple of things factored into this. This week I am on nights so by the time I went to bed this morning I had been awake for 24 consecutive hours, I slept quite well today getting around 7 hours but believe this could have contributed to my lack of energy after starting the run. Also I was sick last night. I've mentioned in previous posts that I have endometriosis which in my case is also on my GI tract which causes me all sorts of problems along with pain, cramping and bloating. Well mid run I got severe stomach cramps. I kept running because I know my own body and my own capabilities but as soon as I stopped for the walking break the pain hit me like a knife deep in my abdomen and I verbally cried out in pain. I managed to get the pain in some control using breathing techniques I have learnt over the years and decided to do the last run but take it at a much slower pace. It was 5 minutes of agony and I've felt sick since. So I've come to the conclusion my endometriosis is having a flare up and the only thing I can do to treat it is to take painkillers. Hopefully by Thursday I'll be fighting fit to run again. I still managed to crack a smile at the end of the run though it's an incredible feeling each time you finish and you know you are getting stronger and fitter.

That sounds horrible! Well done you for completing your run as planned! It is a horrible run too without your additional problems. Rest up now.

Sorry ☹️ to hear that you found your run so horrendous bless🤗! Well done for getting through it, hopefully you can still gain a boost for completing your run despite the pain 🎉 👍🏻

Well done to you for completing that run, sounds really tough. Don’t worry about taking a longer break you won’t lose any fitness (usually about two weeks and you’d be fine), so take the time for this flare up to settle if you need to. But with that grit & determination, I think you’ve got this!

Do what you are doing..listen t your body and obey:) You did well..but make sure that you feel on form before you run again... The runs do wait...

And, that is a lovely smile:) Feel better soon :)

Please take care of yourself and do not push yourself just to keep up with the program, it can wait and will still be here when this flare up subsides. I sympathise with you after seeing my sister-in-law struggle with endo for years. You did incredibly well to get through today, but listen to your body and recognise when to rest up.

Look after yourself 🤗
