W5R2 - midweek failure

Away with work for the past week and managed to run on Monday but Wednesday and Friday were complete failures. I don't use the f word lightly. I didn't do any exercise not even my s&f April challenge.

But hey I'm back home and got my sh1t together today. Rode the horse and got some grief from my trainer for being really stiff in my hips. So wake up call heard loud and clear! I can't allow my CBA attitude to negatively impact my beautiful horse. It's a privilege that he (a prey species) let's me (a predator species) get on board 💕🐎

Today's run was on the trail by the church that I did last week. Defo a toxic 10 today but the second 8 min stint began at a tree lined path (see pic). How can you not be uplifted :) my app got a big smiley face to finish.

S&F tomoz as I think I may be a little stiff after this morning's horse back torture session 🤣🤣🤣

Happy running folks xxx

I’m envious of your riding days, think mine are long over now! Enjoy your running!

No no no. Never to old to ride, you just need to find the right horse x

Well it doesn't sound like you're beating yourself up about it and that's great! Just keep at it! 😁

Being unable to run for a few days because you are away from home for work is an inconvenience, not a failure. Well done on completing your 2x8 run. Enjoy the next one, the feeling when you complete it is like nothing else.

Were you upset because you didn’t run every other day like you might have planned or did you try the runs and couldn’t finish the programme? Either way, the FAQ blog post will help you immensely on this area. It’s ok if you need to take a break during the programme or drop back down a week if you are not ready to move on, everyone is different and we are not robots with rigid schedules. I’m off to Peru for a couple weeks and I was worried about losing my place on the programme but having read the blog post I don’t need to worry and pick up where I left off or drop down a week if I find it hard on my return.

Thank goodness you did it and well done too! That will be me tomorrow! I did W5R1 yesterday and am following close on your heels. You inspire me to keep going!

Bless you x the 2nd 8 min stint was good, I think I'm close to finding the runners zone we so often hear about

Have fun with your run today 💪🏃‍♂️

That looks a lovely place to be running! Well done for getting back on the horse literally! You are just ahead of me, I’m doing Week 5 Run 1 tomorrow. We can do this.

At the end of the avenue of trees is a cut through to the pub! I may need to adjust my route so I end there 😉

Good luck with your run today. You've got this x

... well they do say that a habit is more likely to stick if there’s an immediate reward at the end... 😉. It’s so hard when ‘life’ gets in the way though, isn’t it? I’ve learned to just be a bit kinder to myself about this... (lots of life lessons to be learned in C25K, as well as running ones, I find!!). Hope your hip settles down soon x

Always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for. So pick yourself up and on you go. We’re all on your side here x

You’re welcome. Most of us hit the Slough of Despond now and again. The only answer is to haul oneself out and have another go 😄
