Week 7 Run 1: breaks, season’s growth and no zombies

Quick run report.

I had a busy week at work this week, with a lot of evening overtime. So after work, I just collapsed into bed. Saturday came, and looking at my journal, I couldn’t believe I didn’t manage to get a single row or run or S&F in. It must be the first time this has happened since starting to run; even on the injury couch, I usually manage some Yoga or Pilates or targeted exercises.

So yesterday, on Saturday, I did an intensive rowing session, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and this morning I did my week 7 run 1 of my Couch25k, Zombie version.

It had:

10min fast walk

5 min freeform run

3 x ( 1 min running + 15 secs skipping)

5 min freeform run

2x (2 min stretching + 5 min running)

And it felt really good. My knees felt strong (thank you, James Dunne and Beatlesforever ), and my back had already felt great while rowing yesterday, but on the walk intervals felt completely recovered.

So the break was apparently not bad for my running and rowing, and the James Dunne exercises from the 30-day challenge over on S&F had also done their thing.

And then it was just great to get out there, not too hot, not too cold. And it seems all green shoots have shot up immensely in that week.

I had to take photos from the same spot three weeks ago, and today, it fascinates me to run through the seasonal changes!

And on the Zombiesfront, all clear today!

Happy running, everyone!

Good post CBDB . You obviously needed the rest after your hectic week. Trees have fairly changed in colour in 3 weeks. Have an easy Sunday 😊

Sounds like it all went well on your run. Hooray for excellent prep and life actually giving you the time you needed to get out there.

Gotta ask - where were the zombies? Did you send them my way? I had a swarm of 70 today.

Love the photos and seeing the growth. Looks like you’ll need a machete to get down that trail by week 9. Just shows how much things change at this time of the year.

Yeah 🤣🤣 I shoo-shoo-ed them all over to you! 🤣🤣🧟‍♀️🧟🧟‍♂️

Machete needed, indeed. Once a year I manage to persuade hubby or son to walk the route with some shears. That helps immensely, but at some point I revert to a different route.

That’s a cunning plan with curating the route. I heartily approve.

You sound well rested after such a hard week, your body often tell you what you need. I need to be a better listener 😂
