Today, beautiful Cambridgeshire sunny morning I did my week 9 R 3 down the fields along the river route. I even did a little bit more in prep for the 5k I will complete. Now up to about 3k in the 30 mins. I read a few week 1 comments and struggles. As I look back now I also thought I would never do this. Well I just did! its a good feeling, and if I'm honest, I'm not sure I will ever like the running bit, but the buzz after...
Was it hard? at certain times, bloody hard, but overall the program really prepares you, so newbies do not fear. The biggest milestone for me was the first 20 min run, that was emotional, but almost ecstatic on completing it. Done on the seafront in Spain!
So to all still on the journey, keep it up its worth it, let you know when I have 5k in the bag, will be a few weeks I think.

Congratulations, you runner!! Good for you for not getting bent out of shape about the "5K" thing too. People get really (and unnecessarily) wound up about that. You'll get there. Slow and steady works a treat.
Wise words indeed, Iβll keep that for reference. I hadnβt heard of the 10% rule before! I was thinking of going for the 5k this Friday, nice and slow like, but that would be well over 10%. On my final run I did 3.8k took me 38 mins. I just felt good after the 30 so kept going a bit. Easy on the maths if I maintain pace 5k will take 50 mins, an extra 22% on my 3x30
So I will take all of the advice offered and hope that sometime I will enjoy the run and not just the finish! But I will keep going...
