Hi! So I've done this run earlier today and found the 3 runs of 5 mins fine, I am however, freaking out about the jump to 20 mins on W5R3 did anyone else struggle with the jump??
W5R1: Hi! So I've done this run earlier today... - Couch to 5K
W5R1
Don't fret it will go better than you think, we worried about it just the same as you, the first half was a bit hard, then you settle into breathing and you plod on. Good luck and count your steps ten at a time, it takes your mind off line!
It was better than I thought. Break it down into smaller chunks and it is manageable.
Many of us balked at the prospect but you will be ready for it. You’ve followed the programme and the programme works so try not to be too anxious.
Good luck.
It was surprisingly easier than I expected. I too worried about the big jump. Told myself not to think about or look at time just focus on the steps and time goes quicker than you expect. Slow and steady for this one, it’s not a race more endurance. You have completed so far so your body is ready, it’s just a mind game now. You can do it! Trust the programme and you’ll be fine 😃
Agree with all comments I did 28 today when I started I had no idea that I would actually feel strong 20 mins in....27 mins was survival time but I did! And so will you!!
I do trust the programme, wondered about doing a playlist as am running in silence with app. Kicking in with the guidance?
🙂
I done the same run today and i am nervous about the 20 min run, but just going to wait and see how i do, if all fails i will just keep trying again until i complete it 👊🏼
Do you not want to run for thirty minutes?
C25K is a brilliantly constructed progressive training plan, which has got you through Week 4.............every workout in W5 is actually shorter than each W4 workout. You ran for 16 minutes in each W4 session. You ran for 15 minutes today. Your next run is 16 minutes again, but each of those workouts has had you moving for longer in total than you will run for in W5R3. Don't underestimate the effort of brisk walking and look only at the running intervals. It is the total duration that counts.
Trust the plan, believe in yourself, go slow and practice grinning.
Like you I was a bit wary of this one, and was prepared to stop early if necessary. But I actually found the straight 20 mins easier than 3 x 5 mins and 2 x 10 mins. So don’t worry .
Actually you are right as with the 5 mins I do seem to get into a rhythm and maybe the longer stint will come naturally?!
Thanks
I’ve just remembered that on this run I ran 5 mins then turned around every 5 mins to break the run up and take away the monotony. It gave me a visible landmark to run to. It might not work for everyone but it helped me on that run.
Guess what!? I did it!! Just like you said, ran for 5 turned round etc chose a path by a reservoir and had a dog with me, totally annoyed a fisherman passing him 4 times but hey he'll have forgotten me way before I forget that I ran for 20 mins
So thanks for the advice it really helped
😁
Don’t freak - the anticipation is worse than the fact. Just do what you’ve been doing & let it happen- you can do this - you really can. Then celebrate your achievement in style!! Celebrate 🎉😊👍🏃🏻♀️🏃♂️🏎
Will do - think of us all (virtually) trotting along with you 👍😊🏎
