Hi everyone. I am new here and I did my first ever run today. Not really a run. A laboured, puffing jog, following the instructions. Dogs were extremely surprised that they had to trot to keep up. Had heart surgery a year ago but have been given the all clear to run. So excited. Hope I can make it a way of life now.

Happy New Healthy Year, and welcome!

You seem to have started well :) Many of us felt quite... err... out of condition when we started this..but soon got into the programme:)

Main points.. listen to your body, take your rest days and keep it, steady and slow! ( You will hear me tell folk that... a LOT!)

Check this post out, with the links.. written by one of our great team, it has so many useful pieces of advice:)

Welcome to the programme and what an achievement you've already made by running the first run! Slow down if you feel out of breath: the first couple of weeks are somehow the hardest when you haven't done any exercise before (I was all puffind and red at the end of each run). So take your time and don't hesitate to have an extra rest day (or two) if you feel you need more time to recover. You'll soon feel more and more comfortable. Wish you some nice happy running!

How wonderful - starting 2018 with C25K. Good luck. And welcome to this forum.

My dog too was startled but delighted when I started. Then he got fussy about my routes - he’d pull the other way - so left him home for weeks 6-7. He sulked. He is now delighted to be back on C25K :)

Welcome to this fantastic programme. What a great way to start the New Year.

Keep us posted and don't forget the dogs need to build their fitness too 😉

Welcome to your support network.

You will not regret doing this and you will begin to see improvement in your stamina and recovery in just a few sessions. It really does work.

It might be worth checking out canicross websites to check that running will be okay for your dogs. It can be unsuitable for young, very old or certain breeds.

Enjoy your journey.

Well done! Runn No for 60 seconds seems like a lifetime, so many times too. How did it feel? I've had some time off and so did week 1, run 1 today (on the treadmill as I feel too chubby to go out in public for now)?
