well here goes , as some of you know I was diagnosed with Bowel cancer back in September . I had the tumour removed in late October and spent November recovering and today I had my last appointment for dressing changes. the histology came back not so good however , showing that it has spread to my lymph nodes.,Luckily the ones nearest the tumour , so not too much of a worry , just a couple of courses of chemo.
Just as well that I had completed c25k this year and kept up the 30 minute runs , actually achieving 4k about 33 minutes regularly . This improvement in my fitness is , I am sure what got me recovered from a major op so quickly . needless to say , running has not been a option for me the last couple of months and wont be until after the new year at least. I will be back and starting the c25k app all over again , as any of the stamina and fitness I gained has been severely depleted. I can't wait to start to start pounding the pavements again with my wide load coming thru t-shirt, but my knees will probably beg to differ .I miss it a lot , never thought id say that , its good for my head but there you go , I am a runner now and guess I always will be .
just thought id let those people who have supported me the 1st time through app [you know who you are] I will be back soon , albeit week 1 again . will keep you informed , but if not before xmas , you all have a good one

I will share that slogan with my hubby..... he has been in a similar position for two years now. He trys to tame that monkey ( devil) on his shoulder through sheer positivity!
Thank you so much for posting: you are going to be in our minds today and an inspiration for the future. Good luck with the return to form, you've clearly got the courage it takes! Happy holidays and please keep posting.
Good wishes for a steady and complete recovery. Without a doubt your level of fitness will have helped your recovery from surgery, your wound healing and the way your body withstands the chemo.
The running will still be here when you are fit enough to run again so don’t rush it.
I'm really sorry you've been through all that. I wondered why we'd not heard from you.
But great news on your recovery and here's to your return to running. You'll probably find it much easier than the first time around as your body will remember what it has to do!
Hi Doubletap, it's great to read such a positive post from you and wishing you all the very best for a speedy recovery and return to running in due course. Take care
Running certainly gives us a good general fitness which definitely is an advantage when it comes to facing critical illness, along with an awareness of our own mental strength. It is also great to have plans for your recovery.
I start two months of daily radiotherapy next week and am hoping to continue running right through, at some level. We shall see. My aim is a half marathon in 2018, as my comeback.
Wishing you all the best with your treatment, fellow runner.
Wishing you all the best through your next treatment course and beyond. You can do this, you've done Couch25k! I was very pleased yesterday when out on my run to meet one of our neighbours who has been going through treatment for breast cancer over the last year or so. I hadn't seen her for ages, and I'd been away for months this year. She was out walking her dog, her hair has grown back wonderfully and she looked the picture of health and fitness now. It was so good to see her like that, so different from the last time. Sending you many positive vibes.
Happy holidays doubletap - I was wondering how you were getting on. I look forward to seeing you going through the program again - I can tell you from experience it is even better the second time around.
