So I've just finished wk 5 run 2, and I did it but at one point felt like legs was just gonna give way. Now I've looked at the next run and it's for 20min straight that's a big jump from running 8mins to then 20mins how did everyone else cope with this jump?

Wk 5 run 2
It is a common question, but the truth is there is a lot of work that you are accumulating which you are not accounting for.
For starters W5R2 is not 8 minutes running it is 16 minutes running with a reduction down to walking speed halfway through of 5 mins duration. So you have just gone 21 mins non-stop. The step up is linking up those 16 mins with an extra 4 mins running. Remember you are building your stamina, so it is the collective time you are putting in.
You may even find (as I did), once you've done a long run, that the intervals are actually much more hassle than the constant long run; as you are able to get into a rhythm where you can do much more than you realise. You've got this!!!
I just completed the 20 minute run on Friday and was apprehensive myself, but just keep doing what you have been doing and you'll do fine!
As long as you have followed the program up til now you will be fine. It is definitely a mental challenge, every couple of minutes I kept thinking "oh I could just stop now, no one will know!"
Also, do not set off too fast. I knew it would be a longer run so I set off at a lower pace than usual and was suprised that I kept it up the whole way round! It seems like a big jump but it really isn't once you do it!
Good luck!
Run with belief.
Thanks everyone I'll let you know how I get in when I come to do it 😊
I'll be the one to say it this time. The secret is to run s..l..o..w..l..y.
I've just done wk5 r3 today and dare I say that I thought it was easier than wk5 r2, which seemed to take forever and nearly killed me!! So contradictory .... but I just got in the zone with some good music, did it early when the day was cool and took it steady. I am not a runner, am overweight and useless at exercise for all my life and v unfit. I hope that might give you some confidence to think that you can do it. If I can anyone can! 😄
Yes, honestly, it does happen! I was completely sceptical, convinced I would fail, but like everyone else has said, you have been building up to this.
Well guys I did it and feel great for it thanks for all the advice! And just wondering does anyone else do the C25k program on a treadmill because I do 😊
Yes I use a treadmill. My ankles can't cope with even minor uneven surfaces so I'm much happier in the gym. However on my graduation week I will be on holiday so will have to run outdoors so a bit nervous about that.
I'm sure u will do great I can now run for 30 mins now just didn't use the program for last 2 week but now I need to focus on distance and getting back to running outside because ; it is a much nicer view no doubt u will get the bug for outdoor running just try find more level ground such as canals 😊
