I did R3 yesterday. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was surprised how my breathing finally settled down so that I didn't have to think about it and didn't really miss walk breaks. The c25k prog must be designed so that all previous shorter segments pull a confidence trick on us? Running 15, 16 mins plus walking effort is not much different to 20 min no walking (in terms of effort/calories) but the big20 just looks more daunting? Try thinking of it as 8+8+4 or 5555? Good luck

W5R2 is 21 minutes between warm up and cool down.

W5R3 is 20 minutes between warm up and cool down.

Go slow, believe in yourself and practice grinning.

Just think, when you started did you ever think you could run for 8 minutes? But you did. And you will do the 20 too. Everyone worries about this run but everyone completes it (some on the 2nd try, but that's fine too!)

You will be surprised how effortless it feels when you do it and how elated you are. This is a very sneaky program ;)

I have just done wk5 run 2, the thing that keeps me going is if you had told me 5 was ago I would run non stop for 8

minutes twice I would have laughed myself silly. We can do this, we astonish ourselves with each run under our belt. You can do this x

Thankyou it is true, the program is very clever and seems to roll age, fitness levels etc somehow all into one category for everyone to achieve. Im still surprised doing an 8 minute run ! And looking forward to take on the big 20 tonight !! All the best

I don't know how or why but week 5's rapid progression just works. (Actually, IannodaTruffe explains why above). I did run 3 yesterday and found it surprisingly easy. I don't say that to brag, it's because this programme is very well thought out, not because I'm a champion athlete! (Not even vaguely!) The first 5 minutes seemed to go much slower than the next 5, then the next one passed much quicker then the next 2 flew by and before I knew it it was done. Maybe I was just having a good day but whatever it was I hope you have one too. Knowing you've done 20 minutes really does make you realise how far youve come. Hope you enjoy it. 😊
