Couch to 5k in the back of the net. Ya beauty! Get it up ye!

It was clear I wasn't going to do 5k in 30 mins on my final run, so I thought, to hell with it, I'm going to bloody well run until 5k is done. In the end I did just over 5.5k in 43 mins of running, with 5k complete in a gnat's nadger under 40mins.

It's slow, but right now I'm so stoked I couldn't care less.

I need to do Uni work this afternoon, but I'm so excited, I don't know if I can settle down. Ah well!

Thanks so much ridingstar. I've just been bestowed with my little 'graduate' badge next to my name. I haven't been this excited since, well, for a long long time (I'll spare you the details)!

Congratulation, and well done, I think very very few here have finished the program running 5 k in 30 min...

PS the S*** word is banned from this forum :)

Thanks people. Still riding high here. Uni work appears not to be happening - pfft!

Also, am pleased to note after a quiet word with Pigivi that I have discovered a new swear word. I am very sorry. I won't ever use it again. ;-)

Anaverageman: just sought out your past posts and note that you struggle with finding the joy. I'm only a couple of weeks ahead of you and I just wanted to make a particular point of saying that I TOTALLY get where you're coming from on that. Some runs have been torture. Many I have ached to stop and I've often wondered why it mattered so much to me to do it. In the end it was sheer pigheadedness that got me through.

But oh my goodness me, today I have found the joy. I had to wait until graduation day to feel that I totally settled into a run and not trudge with gritted teeth to the end. I punched the air like a spotty teenager with glowsticks at the end. Keep going. Let me know if that graduation buzz grabs you. I really hope it does.

LOL well I am often 'punching the air like a spotty teenager with glowsticks' .. but I have often blamed it on the boot polish I was drinking ....

But then again I am often 'arguing with myself' in a way that makes me seem positively ‘ Norman Bates’ on the way round too.. eating flies like ‘Renfield’ in Dracula.. being overtaken by speeding snails…

I often see the look in passer-bye’s eyes oh there goes crazy man again.. but, like you, it is my overall facial resemblance to the porcine species (pig-headedness) that will get me therein the end, hopefully .. almost finished w7

but not COUNTING chickens ( or eggs ) yet...

Count what you like luv, I have faith in you.

Incidentally, I reckon eating flies is merely an inconvenience. A couple of weeks ago, while staring straight ahead, teeth gritted, I tripped over a particularly gruesome bit of roadkill. Don't know which was more upsetting - breaking my stride, chundering, or nearly breaking my neck.

They don't tell you about that when you start this running lark, do they?

Congratulations on a great last run, I had an almost identical experience for my final run yesterday. Enjoy the feeling!

It was in part due to your inspiration that I ploughed on with the extra time/distance. I'm so glad I did. Thank you!

That's a lovely thing to say, thank you but it was your hard work and effort that earned that shiny badge for you. Keep up the great work!

ahhh 'breaking your stride, chundering, or nearly breaking your neck' .. but you are a woman and you CAN multi-task... I'm a man.. I'd have had to

1. Break my stride

Then

2. chunder

and follow it up with

3. falling flat on my proverbial!

but yes.. NOT something Laura teaches you about.. 'avoiding roadkill' but well done for doing so.. ( so long as you werent running so FAST you caused the roadkill int eh first place? )

Congratulations, always great to have a new graduate to swell the ranks. Just don't mention the 'S' word, not least because that time wasn't slow. Oh no! Look what you made me do. *I* used the 'S' word!!! ;)
