Ran / limped a 5k

I seem to have done something to my hip. I have rested a day longer each run and missed one run. Hey ho I'll just take a bit steady. I was impressed with my time even with a limp 39 minutes.

Oh Ania, hope everything is okay but you have to listen to your body, far rather take a few days out and try again. I have been doing so well as I took my runs outside and started to get my breathing right. I am up to 5.5 k outside, 7 k on t/mill but last night only managed 12 mins as my legs just wouldn't carry me anymore. Rest for me until tomorrow. They may have to make room for the two of us on the IC. Let me know how you get on.

Thank you for your kind words. I am going to do some stretches 1st before I run. Well done you on your running indoor and out.

Are you stretching? Try icing it and take a few days' rest to see if it improves. A tight hip could be coming from your lower back or hamstrings so make sure you stretch every day and not just after your runs.

No I haven't been stretching so it is my own fault. I was too confident. I will do some stretches like you suggest.

Watch out with static stretching before the run, lots of people advise against it! Dynamic stretching (bum kicking, gentle jog, 'Silly walks' :-) is OK.

Save the static stretches for afterwards.

Think you are right taking an extra rest day, but get it checked if it continues to give problems.

Ooo I like the sounds of the silly walk. Noted about stretches before, I will do them first and then muscle stretches afterward. Thank you sounds like great advice. OG.
