Yes I know that's what the programme is called and I know that lots of you have done it already but I'm dead chuffed with myself!
I graduated just before Christmas and was running just over 2.5 miles in 30 mins. Other half had bought me a graduation t- shirt but had commented that I hadn't actually run 5k yet! He specialises in annoying at times!
Anyway I'd slacked off over Christmas and hadn't run for 30 mins for a couple of weeks but had done a few 20 min runs and a couple of 25 mins. So I had decided I must do 30 on Monday. Well I started to run and it wasn't too bad - I had decided to try out part of the route I'd mapped out for 5k including the hilly bits (isn't it amazing how what appears to be quite flat when driving in the car becomes much more of an incline when running!). Then I just thought I'm going to do this so I did. It took me almost 36 minutes and I was really proud of myself. Hard work and I only plan to do it once a week at the moment and stick to 30 mins for my other two runs but hopefully 5k and 30 mins will be the same thing in the near future!

I'm doing a happy dance for you! I was in the same boat after graduation. We did an organized 5K the week we Graduated and I just ran it! Slow, but I ran it! Finished in 38 minutes, and I then had the confidence to know I could run 5K. I am very proud of you! Wishing you continued running success! Gayle
Well done Viki! It's a great feeling to get to 5K isn't it! I hope your t-shirt was worth the wait
I've only done 5k once - and then promptly got a cough - but I got back up to 30 mins for the first time today. Hopefully back to 5k next week. And yes - I had no idea this town was so hilly until I started running!
Absolutely marvelous, Viki!!! It is an awesome feeling to hit the 5K milestone!!! You have every reason to be feel incredibly chuffed!!! I am proud of you!!! Now, it is time to go put that graduation shirt on...or maybe just wring that smarty husbands neck with it!!!
Well done! I run on a treadmill and I see the 30minutes are up and slow down to a walk! It's such a mental barrier to push yourself on to finish 5k! I'm going in today so hopefully ill be there with you (if I can find the energy to keep going!)
fantastic - well done. I graduated just before New Year and I'm almost but not quite there yet - so I know how hard it is to push on for that next bit.
It's really encouraging to know that pushing on for those extra minutes might get me there - I'll give it a go this weekend.
Excellent well done onwards now. I didnt reach 5K until after Oct graduation but can now , PB is 39.45 so aim to get that down to around 35mins by end of JUne -
I have run 2 park runs fab atmosphere will try one a month
well done - that is brilliant - and has inspired me to map out a route that is 5k - (I won't try it yet but I like to plan things out and get excited about them - sad I know!). keep uop the good work!
