Needed to share 😊 But also to say to those of you on Week 9 who are managing to run for 30 minutes but not reaching 5K, don’t worry about it. The idea of the programme is to get you running for 30 minutes. The rest can come later. I graduated for the second time on May 6th and on my eighth consolidation run I felt comfortable enough to push myself on to reach that allusive 5K. Of course it will be different for everyone but I guess I just wanted to say don’t be disheartened if the 5K seems out of reach at the moment; you will get there when it’s right for you.
I ran a 5K!!!!: Needed to share 😊 But also to... - Couch to 5K
I ran a 5K!!!!
That's brilliant! I have 2 runs left I dont think I'll manage 5k but I am determined to complete the plan.
Congratulations on running your first 5K in a good time of 35.35, if you look at the 5K split at the bottom of the page you might find that you have ran it sub 35 minutes.
Great post... and congratulations on that 5k... quicker than my first one too as it happens!
Well done, fantastic achievement!!👏🏼👏🏼I think it’s really important to shout it loud that most of us don’t do 5K at graduation. I think I managed it on my 5th or 6th graduation run in 40 mins. last weekend. Yesterday I didn’t feel like pushing myself so I only did 32 mins and it was about 4.7K. I’m not bothered, I’m sure that over the coming weeks I’ll be able to consistently run 5K but I’m not going to make it the be all and end all.
I’m running after a long break and I’ve never in the past ran a 30 minute 5k. My fastest was 6 years ago at 34 minutes. I do know if I can get to week 9 and 30 minutes then it will be Ok to extend the run to 5k.
Well done on your first 5k, you did it in a great time.
That’s fantastic and a great message to share with everyone. Congratulations on that 5k!
Thanks everyone for your lovely messages. As for the quick time, that was a surprise to me too!!! I kept telling myself to slow down as I went along so I wouldn’t burn out too soon. Don’t know where it came from 😂
