Yes you will.
Listen to Laura at the beginning, take it very steadily and amaze yourself.
Everyone is apprehensive about this run, but after this, you will find walk breaks a pain in the ***!
Let us know how you get on x
You will have a moment between two and five minutes in when you will think, "I definitely can't do this". I have this moment every single run I do, even though I graduated six months ago ad I am training for a half marathon. Ignore it. It's your body trying to fool you. Push through that moment and you will be right as rain. You've done all the building blocks. The programme works. You definitely CAN do it.
Start slow and steady and you will get there. It seems like a huge step and everyone tends to build it up into an unconquerable proportion, but if you managed the previous runs then this one is just the next in the sequence and when you achieve it you will have ticked off a major milestone in your running career. Don't approach it with any fear, it is just another run.
Good luck.
As all above - you've already done the work which will slot this into place. If it gets tough take your pace down a notch, and don't worry about how far you've run, at this stage it's all about running for the time. I still remember W5 r3 as my best run ever, it's a watershed moment - enjoy it!
Yes, you certainly can do it - that's what the last 5 weeks have been all about! Your body is well prepared. Now you have to truly believe that! Don't build it up to be something big, just go out there and do it! Have fun!
This is a great moment in the course. Just go for it, speed and time don't matter, ignore the doubts that your brain throws up - you can do this and you will do this!
YES you CAN do it! I felt exactly the same as you last week and then did it! Take it easy, tell yourself you can do it and just get out there. The programme works; you ARE ready. You just wait for the amazing feeling when you've done it! Good luck
It is do-able. If you've done the runs leading up to it then you can certainly do this one. I did it this morning having done W5R2 16 days ago (yes, I'm a fool, I know). Feel free to ignore Laura when she starts her encouraging comments with negatives (I told her to shut up at least twice during this run!) and just listen to the positives. And if, for any reason you don't succeed in doing the whole run at the first attempt, you can have as many goes at it as you need. Have a good run!
Thank you everyone for all your positive tips and encouragement . Well the time has arrived and I'm off out to kick this runs butt . Wish me luck will post how it went later
Report back! Sorry I was late with my post. For me, it's a mental battle every time. If I focus on a particular thought, before I know it, 5 minutes have elapsed. Hope it went well for you! I cried when I finished - I was so proud.
I did it and yes I agree it is a mental battle . Self consciousness , fear of failure , feeling useless at sport because at school you always came last in a race even though you always tried your best.
It's taken me 51 years to overcome all these issues and as yet still not there but believe me I'm determined to graduate and yes I will succeed this is my personal battle
