Yes! 5k at last!

After graduation on the 10th June, we finally hit 5k today. For the last week we'd settled at 4.5k, on the last one speeding up for the last 500m. Today we were back on the golf course with its dreaded "up" and all too short "down". I kept in front of hubbie (who tends to go faster if he's in front but is perfectly happy at my steadier pace). I managed to keep pretty steady on the speed front. I switched from mapmyrun to runkeeper today because mapmyrun has lost its in app graphs. Runkeeper lady came in every 500m and at the 4k mark I said to hubbie we could go for 4.5 again, and speed up a bit, or stay steady and try for 5. We chose the latter, and finished the lap of the golf course with one of our field from the Laura days. I was so chuffed when mrs runkeeper said "distance 5km". Woo hoo! It took 40mins altogether. But we did 5k!!! I think we'll stick with the distance for a bit and work on pace now. But who knows? It has been nice to have an aim in mind....

Well done! It's a great feeling isn't it? My 5k time is 42 minutes and my aim is to do one 5k and one 30 minute run a week and hope that at some point in the future it becomes the same thing!

Nah, it's at 930 on a Saturday! We are enjoying getting fit but we do it after a lie in on a Saturday! I don't do mornings! ;-)

I'm very much not a morning person (hate my early shifts) but that wanting to beat my official 5k time gets me out of bed... becoming obsessed! :-)
