5k at last ... wahay!

Hi, I haven't posted for a few days now because I wanted to have something good to post about. Well, today I've done it .... on my 11th post grad run I've run 5k at last! Still not very fast (34.25mins) but today feels like progress. I'm not really interested in stats but decided to measure my distance with MapMyRun so hope it was telling me the truth.

It's also the longest time I've run for because I usually set the timer for 30mins so another small achievement there as well.

If any of you are still in the early weeks of the programme (and are still reading me waffling on) take heart, I never thought I'd get this far and am amazed that I'm still running and (almost!) enjoying it. C25k worked for me and you fellow runners unknowingly have supported me with your posts, thank you.

Sorry to blow my own trumpet but today I'm feeling GOOD! So next challenge is to run 5k in 30mins and build up confidence to do the local Park Run.

One other thing. Get and do that Park Run NOW. There are plenty of people taking 45+ mins to run/walk them. You will be right up there and nowhere near the back!!

Well done, a great run. Register for Parkrun and give it a try. It will probably help your time 👍🏼

Thanks, I'm certainly feeling good today.

Well done. Your post show there is hope for me yet. Only on week 7 but the 5k distance is what I'd like to eventually achieve.

Go blow your trumpet 🎺 it's well deserved.

Do not worry if you do not make it after the nine weeks..:)

Just check out the post by Irish-John ...many, many graduates do not make 5K.... the idea of C25K, is to get you to be able to run for thirty minutes...:)

The name, as has been posted many times is a bit of a misnomer...but Couch to 30 minute run, is not as as catchy!!! :)

Running stamina and muscle take time to build up and nine weeks is just not long enough to do that...:)

As one of the seasoned graduates once said, it is a journey. not a race... a carefully structured, slow and steady journey and you run it your way...:)
