A special thanks to Oldfloss for her catch up corner, full of support and wonderful musings.
So Acknowledge…..Accept….Adapt we’re the words of wisdom I read in the catch up corner the other day!
That made me think 🤔
I have a tumour, in my mouth, the biopsy results appointment isn’t til 31st March….. I’m off sick from work, mostly because the high levels of pain pills leave me drowsy, lethargic and sleepy. I’m not after sympathy.
I’ve been balancing the dose of pain relief to keep the pain manageable but at the same time to be able to do things. I’ve done a lot of reading as you do and the biggest message is keep in as best condition as possible to face whatever comes next.
Should I go for a run when I’m being paid sick pay? probably not but life’s got a bit too comfy and flipping miserable on this couch however many cushions are plumped up.
To the park we go, lots of faffing beforehand, it’s been 17 days since we ran so things like eat buds need charging and for some reason repairing with the watch.
The sun shines the sky is blue the grass is green all bright and vibrant, warm up walk once round is about 5 minutes, lots of doubts fill my mind, can I run? will it hurt more? well only one way to find out!
Off we trot, really slow, gentle steps, quiet breathing, but it’s running, once round, phew it’s hot, off with the long sleeves, round again, yup 👍 😀 I can run 😀 so I smile as i potter along, feeling the sun on my shoulders with my rock Willow beside me, full of concern but also pleased to be out in the sun.
30 minutes which included the warm up walk, slow and steady.
It took a while but we
Acknowledged…. that I need to take it a bit easy
Accepted…. that pushing for speed or distance it out for now
Adjusted….by taking it slow and having no firm plan of how long we would run.
Willow enjoyed the steady pace and his knees didn’t protest at all, we enjoyed seeing spring flowers in the park and while we haven’t been to the park someone has planted a circle of silver birch trees… my favourite after the Oak.
Thank you everyone
