I was sat in the office yesterday looking out of the window (did the same at school !) and seeing how nice the weather was, I just had to book another cheeky Wednesday off. Had a nice lie in and then decided to go out and do the NRC New Morning Run with Headspace. I find these so relaxing and so easy to listen to Coach Bennett and Andy Puddicombe have such a good rapport.
It didn’t feel as easy today but it was still okay and I still felt relaxed as I ran along. At the end of the 30 minute guided run I decided to resume the workout, turning around and heading for home. Even the dreaded steep hill wasn’t too bad. I Japanese slow ran up that. Any casual bypasser seeing me would have instantly recognised this style and thought he’s running like a Japanese Elder, a very old and slow one 😂🇯🇵👴.
Having reached the brow of the hill I ran down the other side, with the theme to Avengers playing in my ears. Having gained my second wind (think I must have missed the first one) and feeling more confident I continued until I’d reached just over 9 km, which felt just about right for today.
Home, showered then a nice little Thai Green Chicken Curry, 😋 Asda do a range called Gym Kitchen, plenty of protein not too many calories and very tasty, just right for lunch 👍
Out with Harvey 🐕🦺 now for a long walk, making the most of this lovely weather.
Happy Running Everyone! 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️

Good for you Couchphoenix! Sounds like a smashing run and yes this beautiful weather is great isn’t it? So far we have had a great April and it’s just such a joy to be able to get out and enjoy it. I’m out tomorrow, going to do a bit of trail running across the fields ....well probably a plod across the fields to be more accurate!🤣🤣. Great photos and smashing time Couchphoenix.Take care and happy running. 🏃♂️
PS. I used to always gaze out of the window at school and dream of being somewhere else🤔🤔x
Thank you Now63, it’s lovely weather at the moment, too good to be stuck in work. Good luck with your trail run, I’m always a bit wary of twisting an ankle on the uneven ground with trail running.
Awww glad I’m not the only one who gazed out of the window 🪟 not good to be still doing it at 55 years old though is it 😂
That was a very good cheeky 9K run you ran this morning, well done, I ran a cheeky 8K this morning at about the same pace as you, enjoy your walk with Harvey, its been a lovely day for both a run and walk.
Cheers Al can’t beat a cheeky midweek run, well done on your 8k. It felt a nice steady run today, it’s funny but I’m not too bothered about pace these days, I just enjoy getting out there, if it’s quick it’s a bonus. I’m going to try to get a PB for the Vitality 10,000 though 🏃♂️🏅
On a day like today it’s just nice to take full advantage of the weather, dog was happy too 👍🐕🦺
After my cheeky 8K run this morning I had lunch and after that I took my neighbours dog Holly a short walk, during that walk I met a nice lady who was walking very slowly with a walking stick, I said good afternoon and continued my walk with Holly, I couldn't help wondering how long she would have taken at the very slow pace she was walking to complete a 5K.
That’s a good long run, I’m loving the NRC too and have tried a few different ones now, slow Japanese running is special and not just for elders 😀The food sounds good too
We did WW1 and trench warfare in 3rd year 😴 so I dropped history...discovered after that the O level course was Kings & Queens of England. To this day British history is a closed book to me...
That sounded a great day of work CP, i remember those school days, looking out the window, on sunny days! I'm impressed you stopped at 9k, these days i'd have pushed on to 10k 🤷♂️ and still seems strange talking about 5k as a short run!! 🤣Hope everythings going ok with your mum's house.
5 and 10k seem to be the benchmarks we set ourselves these days. It’s crazy that we consider 5k a short run, nice though to be able to look at it that way.
Well done CP! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Extended you run in the end 👍🏻I always day dreamed at school, looking at the ☀️ and the fields and dreaming of being outside instead of stuck indoors. Or thinking what I might have for tea that day 😂.
Now which Avengers theme? Marvel or Diana Rigg? I’m guessing the latter! 😉
Thanks Sarah, glad it wasn’t just me daydreaming in school. Most of what they teach you, you never actually use 🤷♂️
The theme was Marvel Avengers, good stirring stuff to get you moving, although the themes to The Avengers and New Avengers would be just as good 🤔. I used to love The New Avengers, especially Purdey 😗.
I still love the Prisoner now. First watched it as a teenager and have the series on DVD. I got my husband to watch it with me the first year we were together. He wasn’t that bothered about it (shakes head -how could he not not like it?) I’ve always wanted to go to Portmeirion on my to do list.
Patrick McGoohan was an absolute legend! Great theme music too.
I loved Knightrider, saw a Kitt for sale on eBay, seen a few, wouldn’t that be cool to own, it was all fitted out like the one from the series, the guy who was selling it used to take it to car shows. I never watched The Prisoner.
Me neither and I don’t want to ! I like being this way! 🤣 Let’s make a pact to never grow up Geoff 😀👍🏻Ps I think you have missed one of my new posts from Friday 🏃🏻♀️ 😉 x
Thanks Frenc, yeah I’ve got leave left from last year too......that’s rare, an actual benefit from the pandemic!.....well sort of......It’s nice to make the most of the good weather. 👍
