Wednesday Run In The Sun

Took a cheeky day off today, and the weather was just too good not to go out for a run.

NRC Mindful Miles looked interesting, so that was the choice of the day from my running menu. Chose an alternate route (one with steep hill at the beginning ๐Ÿ˜ฌ).

Set off and felt so comfortable running along, more relaxed lately, even the hill wasnโ€™t too bad. Weather was perfect sunny but also still fresh. Andy Puddicombe, Coach Bennett and Olympian Colleen Quigley chatting away, Colleen about the highs and lows of her career and Andy explaining that you sometimes need to be in the moment away from thinking about all thatโ€™s going on in your life.

Iโ€™ve mentioned before that I take my surroundings in more when I run these days instead of looking down and was pleased to see a path worn into the grass which runs parallel to the pavement, first time Iโ€™ve ever noticed it, so I used that and it was a nice change to run on grass instead of concrete. It went on for quite a distance too, so made a mental note of that.

The run went well and I eventually reached 10k, a nice bench in the sun was just too tempting not to take advantage of. I took my armband phone holder off and took my phone out sat for a while then decided to walk home, so lovely to be out in the fresh air.

Almost home looked down and noticed my phone holder was now minus my front door key ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. So had to retrace my steps all the way back to the bench, which was quite a way๐Ÿ˜ฌ luckily having arrived there I found the key laying on the grass under the bench ๐Ÿ”‘ ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™d cooled down by now, so decided a 2k NRC Run would be just right to get me home.

Showered and shattered now and the dog is giving me the walkies eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿ™ so looks like Iโ€™ll be clocking up a few more K before the day is out.

Happy Running Everyone !

Thank you, what a gorgeous day itโ€™s been, just back from walking the dog, shattered now, but at least Iโ€™ve made the most of the good weather.

Great stuff there CP! It certainly was a lovely day today - it would have been a wonderful day to have gone for a run.

I'm glad you found your key. I remember losing mine on week 6 of c25k on the very far side of the woods. I posted on a neighbourhood forum I'm on to ask if anyone had found a key and lo and behold someone else messaged me to say that another lady had posted to say she'd found a key whilst litter picking and had anyone lost one! Mr B thought it had gone for good/

Than You BL64, It just goes to show there are still good people about.

It was lovely today, isnโ€™t it weird we look at the weather and instantly think itโ€™s a lovely day for a run. Enjoying it lately and Iโ€™m relaxing a lot more too.

Dog got his walk so he was happy too ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ

Oh no , shame you had to go back to look for your key but so lucky to have found it ๐Ÿ‘

I will remember to try that NRC run !

I couldn't get the zombie app to initialise ๐Ÿ˜

Yeah lovely day today, nice we both had an enjoyable 10k, I only tagged that 2k on as by the time Iโ€™d found the key Iโ€™d cooled down and needed to get home. Why donโ€™t you sign up for the Virtual Vitality 10,000, really nice medal ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Couchphoenix

Oh dear , I bet there were a few choice words when you noticed you didn't have your key ๐ŸคฃYes I've wondered about the vitality 10.

I might take a look ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Couchphoenix profile image
CouchphoenixGraduate10 in reply to Instructor57

Yeah what a pain that was, I was lucky I found it though. The armband holds the key nice and tight when itโ€™s strapped to your arm but is useless once you take it off. Wonโ€™t make that mistake again.

Sign up for it Ian the medal is a absolute cracker ๐Ÿ‘

I like that run, really makes you think doesn't it. Blimey you were so lucky with your key, glad no one had picked it up. I know what you mean about taking in more on the run. Im lucky to live really rurally and I normally see brown hares, deer, swans etc on my runs, which is always so lovely. Tonight there was one little muntjac out on its own, just monding its own business, sooo peaceful and it was a beautiful night. I don't have anyone to run with, but actually most of the time I love it, I look around and am so thankful for my surroundings.

CouchphoenixGraduate10 in reply to Hedgehogs123

Itโ€™s a nice easy listening one, which was just right today. Iโ€™m so much more relaxed when I run these days.

Losing that key was a pain, luckily I found it.

I had to Google what a muntjac is, thatโ€™s a new one on me. ๐ŸฆŒ

Sounds a lovely place to run where you live, all that wildlife to see and enjoy.

Itโ€™s ok here in Kent, Iโ€™ve got some nice routes to choose from now, rarely see any wildlife though. ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I used to live and work in Folkestone, Dover and Ashford in Kent and some of my friends still do. Some really pretty parts there.

Yes I'm lucky, always lots of wildlife to see particulary on spring and summer mornings and evenings

Good morning number one Coach,

Well done on running another 10k, I am SO proud of you ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฅฐ. It really is so lovely to hear that you are feeling more relaxed these days and enjoying your running, so incredible the joy running brings.

What a nuisance regarding your key, so glad you found it. When I lose things I say a little prayer to St Anthony and that usually works.

Ha ha ha love the walkie ๐Ÿ‘€!!! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ

Take care

Enjoying running a lot more lately, run much better when Iโ€™m relaxed.

Yeah got that sinking feeling when I saw no key ๐Ÿ”‘ ๐Ÿ™ I was lucky I found it. St Anthony, must have been smiling down on me.

The dog got his walkies so he was happy too ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ

Your doing brilliantly with your second C25k comeback quest, keep up the good work, proud of you x

That was lucky that you managed to find your lost key! And a good run too, albeit longer than planned. Relaxed runs are the best for so many reasons๐Ÿ˜Š

Couchphoenix profile image
CouchphoenixGraduate10 in reply to Lifluf

Thanks Liflluf, lesson learnt with the key, the phone armband holds it secure when youโ€™re wearing it, but useless when you take it off. Itโ€™s taken ages for me to able to relax but what a difference when you can ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Dups profile image

It was was a gorgeous day for a run, and sounds like you had a great one ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป I did a 6k run and because it was so lovely it really made the run so much more enjoyable โ˜€๏ธ

Glad you found your key, you were so so lucky!

Couchphoenix profile image
CouchphoenixGraduate10 in reply to Dups

Thanks Dups, I think I chose the right day, itโ€™s cold here today. Itโ€™s nice to make the most of the good weather, well done on your 6k ๐Ÿ‘

Very lucky to find that key !

Sounds another good run CP, this weather is actualy ideal at the moment, bit of sunshine, but not too warm, glad you found your key!

Couchphoenix profile image
CouchphoenixGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

Perfect weather yesterday, as soon as you see a nice day, you think itโ€™s a lovely day for a run, something I could never imagine doing before.

I even took the dog for a long walk in the afternoon.

Yes will be more careful with that key in future ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”‘

A cheeky day off! How wonderful to celebrate that with a run. Or two! Well done ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

I can imagine your heart sinking when you realised your key was missing. You were fortunate to find it, though. I have a wristband with 2 small compartments, secured with zips - so Iโ€™d have to lose the whole wristband.

It was nice out this morning, if a little chilly at first.

Couchphoenix profile image
CouchphoenixGraduate10 in reply to Jools2020

Canโ€™t beat a cheeky day off mid week especially when the sun decides to make an appearance ๐ŸŒž Lot colder today.

Yes my heart sunk โ˜น๏ธ The armband holds the key nice and snug when itโ€™s being worn, but is pretty useless when you take it off.....lesson learnt!

It was nice to run on grass for a change, kinder to the old knees ๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Jools2020 profile image
Jools2020Graduate10 in reply to Couchphoenix

I did the vast majority of C25K on grass. Then I tried running on the road and saw how much faster I could go! I do get knee aches from time to time, though. Strangely, itโ€™s more likely to happen when Iโ€™m walking. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ
