I'm not doing anything exciting or really worth writing about at the moment but I am running.I've now completed week 1 and 3 runs of week 2 of the NRC HM plan.
Today was 35 minutes recovery run so I programmed it into my Garmin with a 5 min warm up and cool down each end.
I decided to run along the path to the other end of the beach, trotted down the slopes to the lower level, pausing to snap a photo at the top, the beach is much wider there, then ran back along the prom. Once finished I was just under a kilometre from home so I walked along, admiring flowers in front gardens.
Today Lewis Capaldi sang as I ran, both of us slow and smooth, there's something about his voice that just gets to me, the lyrics are a bit miserable though so I don't listen to them, just the sound π.
It felt good just running, not getting puffed out and no walk breaks. Next run is an interval run.
Run happy all or rest well if you need.

Well done Sue. Great running. Best of luck for the rest of your training. I have the best of respect for anyone who trains for Marathons and Half Marathons. That takes dedication. Last year I got up to 18K and absolutely hated it. Long runs of much further than 12K are just not for me. I'll stick to 5K and 10K. π
Thanks π I wanted to get to half marathon last year, the first year I retired, but we all know that it went to pot, I did manage the slowest 10 miles though, 16k? I think. I'm hoping if I don't put pressure on myself I'll get there this year but the main thing is to run, without walk breaks, and to play on the soft sand in the evenings with the dog π
Wonderful! What a lovely run report for a lovely recovery run. I so wish I was able to run by the sea, I find it so much more inspiring and invigorating! Still, I'm plodding along on my 62 mile challenge, slowly and somewhat surely πͺπ€£ enjoy your intervals! πͺπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Aww thanks, I'm doing what I can βΊοΈ ooh sounds like you've moved to a great place with loads of interesting places to run! Double the enjoyment - first you get to discover new routes and then you get to actually run them ππ
Yes it is double the enjoyment. Next I'll explore running alongside the Norfolk broads,so far I've only found bits of them but would be perfect for a recovery run.
I love a sandy beach for walking π as much as my local beach where I used to live in Kent was beautiful, it was impossible to run there or throw the ball for the dogs unless the tide was way out. And then sometimes people and dogs would get stuck in mud π±
Look at that lovely beach - it looks deserted. Great running, Sue! And good idea to programme it into your watch, especially for intervals so you have that info on Garmin.
Love this SueAppleRun and these are the ones we all build as our foundations. What a great place to run too. We're definitely coming there in July so we look forward to that. I remember saying to you a few years ago that you could do a half and you're on your waaaaaay πβ
wow SueAppleRun. Thatβs a great run for you. What a beautiful place to run. And you are doing soooo well. Iβm sure youβll get to your goal this year.
At my pace at the moment it'll take all day to run a HM, my aim though isn't pace, it's to keep running without walk breaks and not get worn out. I'm enjoying not getting too puffed out, and keeping going π I think the idea is to eventually to be able to run a bit faster and not get worn out, it'll take months but I'm in no hurry
Slow and steady is my mantra. Although Iβm still just a W5R1 (again!!!). Keep getting a niggle in my heel and have to stop for a week till it settles down but as you say thereβs no rush. Happy running πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Well, I thought that was exciting and worth writing about Sue. I always love to read your posts and you generally add a lovely photograph or two. And youβre making steady progress towards that half marathon. Be proud. I love the way you embrace the run for what it is, being present in the moment. A lot of us could learn from you. I particularly liked your finish, walking along, admiring flowers in front gardens. You are an inspiration to me. Please continue to post. Xx
Thank you. The NRC 10k Training Plan taught me for the first time that there are many types of run and that most of them should be enjoyable! Sounds stupid when I say it out loud now, but it was a total game changer for me. And whoβd have thought that that simple mindset change would result in improved performance's? Win win. As CB often says, βThis is all about running, and itβs not all about runningβ. I may have paraphrased badly there but you know what I mean. Great life lessons along the way. Xx
