Took a cheeky day off today, and the weather was just too good not to go out for a run.
NRC Mindful Miles looked interesting, so that was the choice of the day from my running menu. Chose an alternate route (one with steep hill at the beginning ๐ฌ).
Set off and felt so comfortable running along, more relaxed lately, even the hill wasnโt too bad. Weather was perfect sunny but also still fresh. Andy Puddicombe, Coach Bennett and Olympian Colleen Quigley chatting away, Colleen about the highs and lows of her career and Andy explaining that you sometimes need to be in the moment away from thinking about all thatโs going on in your life.
Iโve mentioned before that I take my surroundings in more when I run these days instead of looking down and was pleased to see a path worn into the grass which runs parallel to the pavement, first time Iโve ever noticed it, so I used that and it was a nice change to run on grass instead of concrete. It went on for quite a distance too, so made a mental note of that.
The run went well and I eventually reached 10k, a nice bench in the sun was just too tempting not to take advantage of. I took my armband phone holder off and took my phone out sat for a while then decided to walk home, so lovely to be out in the fresh air.
Almost home looked down and noticed my phone holder was now minus my front door key ๐ฎ. So had to retrace my steps all the way back to the bench, which was quite a way๐ฌ luckily having arrived there I found the key laying on the grass under the bench ๐ ๐
Iโd cooled down by now, so decided a 2k NRC Run would be just right to get me home.
Showered and shattered now and the dog is giving me the walkies eyes ๐ ๐ so looks like Iโll be clocking up a few more K before the day is out.
I didnโt notice the weather today, it was cold when i went to work early this morning, iโm off Saturday though so hope it warms up a bit Thatโs a lot of running and then walking ๐ you will sleep well tonight
Great stuff there CP! It certainly was a lovely day today - it would have been a wonderful day to have gone for a run.
I'm glad you found your key. I remember losing mine on week 6 of c25k on the very far side of the woods. I posted on a neighbourhood forum I'm on to ask if anyone had found a key and lo and behold someone else messaged me to say that another lady had posted to say she'd found a key whilst litter picking and had anyone lost one! Mr B thought it had gone for good/
Than You BL64, It just goes to show there are still good people about.
It was lovely today, isnโt it weird we look at the weather and instantly think itโs a lovely day for a run. Enjoying it lately and Iโm relaxing a lot more too.
Dog got his walk so he was happy too ๐๐โ๐ฆบ
Thank you sofaspud, youโre right that NRC Run is a nice easy one to listen to, had a good run today, weather was gorgeous, Iโm so much more relaxed when I run these days, makes such a difference. Hope all is going well with you .
Awww bless you having to go back to find your key CP! Glad you found it though.Sounds like an enjoyable run you had and reached 10k with ease. Well done! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป ๐ x
Thanks Lottie, what a pain losing that key was ! wonโt make that mistake again. Yes itโs been lovely here today, glad I made that last minute decision to take the day off, hope youโre doing ok ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ
Yeah lovely day today, nice we both had an enjoyable 10k, I only tagged that 2k on as by the time Iโd found the key Iโd cooled down and needed to get home. Why donโt you sign up for the Virtual Vitality 10,000, really nice medal ๐๐โโ๏ธ
Yeah what a pain that was, I was lucky I found it though. The armband holds the key nice and tight when itโs strapped to your arm but is useless once you take it off. Wonโt make that mistake again.
Sign up for it Ian the medal is a absolute cracker ๐
What a great way to spend a cheeky day off CP ๐ glad you're feeling more relaxed and enjoying your surroundings more. I'll have to try that MRC run when I get back up to 10k ๐๐
Thanks Littleoyellow, glad I booked it off it was a cracking day, 12k in the morning and a nice long walk with the dog to follow in the afternoon, so he was happy too ๐๐โ๐ฆบ
I like that run, really makes you think doesn't it. Blimey you were so lucky with your key, glad no one had picked it up. I know what you mean about taking in more on the run. Im lucky to live really rurally and I normally see brown hares, deer, swans etc on my runs, which is always so lovely. Tonight there was one little muntjac out on its own, just monding its own business, sooo peaceful and it was a beautiful night. I don't have anyone to run with, but actually most of the time I love it, I look around and am so thankful for my surroundings.
Well done on running another 10k, I am SO proud of you ๐๐ฅฐ. It really is so lovely to hear that you are feeling more relaxed these days and enjoying your running, so incredible the joy running brings.
What a nuisance regarding your key, so glad you found it. When I lose things I say a little prayer to St Anthony and that usually works.
Ha ha ha love the walkie ๐!!! ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ
That was lucky that you managed to find your lost key! And a good run too, albeit longer than planned. Relaxed runs are the best for so many reasons๐
Thanks Liflluf, lesson learnt with the key, the phone armband holds it secure when youโre wearing it, but useless when you take it off. Itโs taken ages for me to able to relax but what a difference when you can ๐๐โโ๏ธ
It was was a gorgeous day for a run, and sounds like you had a great one ๐๐ป I did a 6k run and because it was so lovely it really made the run so much more enjoyable โ๏ธ
A cheeky day off! How wonderful to celebrate that with a run. Or two! Well done ๐๐๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐
I can imagine your heart sinking when you realised your key was missing. You were fortunate to find it, though. I have a wristband with 2 small compartments, secured with zips - so Iโd have to lose the whole wristband.
It was nice out this morning, if a little chilly at first.
I did the vast majority of C25K on grass. Then I tried running on the road and saw how much faster I could go! I do get knee aches from time to time, though. Strangely, itโs more likely to happen when Iโm walking. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
