Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

This week at Albert, I made my pacing debut. It was event number 777. I chose 27 minutes and finished in 26:58 so was chuffed with that. I went out too fast on the first k but settled well for the rest of the run. I really enjoyed it and will do it again. Tasha99 was the Park Walker today as well.
A warm one in Sussex. Had planned Folkestone to get the letter F but it’s nearly a 2 hour drive away and we hadn’t organised ourselves to get out of the door early enough so decided to do Seaford Beach instead.
About 300 people running & walking. Am still trying to crack my PB on that course but couldn’t manage it today. Husband did a PB 21:20 and now chasing a sub 21 minute 😳🥵
That was Parkrun 47 for me, so nearly at my next milestone…
Good morning Damien and other parkruners, 45:29 was my time this morning at Springburn parkrun, no that wasn't because I ran one of my slowest ever parkruns, I was the tailwalker and that time is my quickest ever as the tailwalker, my policy is to walk/run with the last runner at parkrun, today I ran the first and last kilometer with two different people, I enjoyed the middle section when I was walking, very friendly people, weather was dry with a little sunshine.
I wasn't there but I noticed one time at Palacerigg Country parkrun the tailwalker had a time of just over 80 minutes because the second last person's time was also around 80 minutes, there was about a 20 minutes difference between that person and the third last runner.
Sharpham Road Playing Fields this morning. It was hot! First time here and loved the community feel. It was a bit smaller than others we’ve done and there was some nice pre race chat with people visiting. Someone had come from Glastonbury…we think probably mainly because of the nicer loos!!!
I was in a real grump for most of the run, mostly unrelated to the actual run itself. I’m blaming PMT hormones which sounds trivial but it really does make a huge difference to my mood. Usually it would have been a nice, chatty run with MrU but because the course is quite tight, we couldn’t run next to each other or talk easily. That meant I was mostly in my own head for the run having not brought headphones thinking I’d be chatting all the way round. The run felt awkward with a lot of small sprints to get past slower runners in gaps when faster runners weren’t running past on the other side, I never really got in a good rhythm. Hey ho. It happens! The time was faster than I’d expected given it didn’t feel like a particularly good run. 5km ticked off and there was coffee and cake afterwards!
I’d like to come back in a better frame of mind and have another go with some music for distraction! We had a quick wander up to the reservoir which was looking rather lovely.
Congratulations to this week’s park runners and volunteers!
That’s a nice parkrun, we did it when staying in Cheddar a couple of years ago. I really didn’t understand why it wasn’t more simply named Cheddar, when it’s the only one in the town.
Hello everyone. I traveled Solo this morning 1 hour and 30 mins to run at Ballinamore Greenway parkrun. It was their 100th event and I wore my 100th parkrun T-Shirt. Lovely friendly event, an out and back along a greenway track. It was pretty hilly, plenty of ups and downs. I felt good and just ran by feel, I didn’t look at my watch. I knew it wasn’t going to be a PB course that’s for sure, but I was happy to finish comfortably in a time of 26:58. My Garmin matched my parkrun result perfectly. Coffee and delicious cake after the finish which is alway an amazing way to finish a parkrun.
Great time for you today Damien, congratulations, I am sure it won't be long before you can get a sub 25 minute 5K at your favourite parkrun, but don't push yourself too hard, it should come gradually. 😊 🏃🏾
Mr Cheeky and I offered our joint taxi service to our daughter and family who are doing day trips to Glastonbury with their 2 little sons. My first stint was this morning so I only had time for a close PR, and Clevedon Salthouse Fields it was.
Perfect running conditions and I combined it with my HM Plan 35 minute recovery run. I’ve done Clevedon in 34-something, but I wasn’t out to do that today. I have 10 miles to do tomorrow, and in any case, the new and improved me has ditched all aspirations of bettering my times. No surprise to those who know how I like my runs! 😅
I felt great and finished in 38:51 PR time. Bit less Garmin. Home for a quick sploosh, then delivered the festival goers. 🎶🎶🎶 Mr C is on picking up duty! 😀
Great run for you today CC, I have been watching Glastonbury non stop since yesterday and today once I came back from parkrun, today I was the tailwalker, I got round it quickly so I could get back home to watch Glastonbury.
A volunteer day - timekeeping - to allow Mr Coddfish to catch up with me by doing his run #249 in the hope we can both do #250 together next Saturday. Warm and fairly windless so a good turnout, and a nice drink and banana bread in a local cafe with Oldgirlruns afterwards.
Fantastic. Well done for volunteering and sharing your experience of number 250 together next week. Great achievement and looking forward to reading all about it next week.
Hi everyone! As Mr S and I are currently on a little motorhome trip around South West Scotland, my plan for today had been to cycle to Ayr (about 3.5 miles) but, when I checked for directions, it said it was cancelled 😤 Checked out the nearest ones, but too far to cycle, so I thought I’d skip it. Then Mr S took pity on me and said he’d drive me to Troon, about 13 miles away. It is generally an out and back along the Esplanade, but they had to adjust the course, as the temporary “town” is being built for the Open Golf in a couple of weeks (absolutely huge!) so it was actually twice out and back. The weather was fine, but with a strong breeze, which has been keeping the temperatures down most of the week and which slowed me down a bit, finishing in 34.09. 143 runners and I was 1st in my age category - in fact the only one in my age category and, when I checked, there were a total of just 3 women over 60 😳 I’m at a festival next week then off to France, so my next parkrun will be 31st August. Happy running!
hello @damienair and parkrunners. Today UpTheStanley and I went overseas to the Isle of Wight on the hovercraft. The Medina parkrun site was taken over by the Isle of Wight Festival, so they have an alternative site at Ryde, which is far easier for us to get to. I’m ashamed to say it’s the first time I’ve been on the hovercraft since living here, so it was so exciting to go on our ‘flight’, after our 2.5 km walk to the hover port.
It was a short walk to Appley park with plenty of loos available and lots of tourists attending. The course was challenging with a mixture of running on grass, woodland path and the Prom. To say it was undulating is an understatement! I am not ashamed to say I didn’t run it all. 😂
We couldn’t have wished for better conditions, and our only regret was choosing a weekend when aliboo70 was working, so we couldn’t meet up. However, her partner Kenny did an excellent job at hosting us and we had a chat over coffee afterwards. Me and UTS had a beautifully cooked bacon bap.
We then went for a long coastal walk, a pub lunch, and an ice cream before heading back at 3.45. Now horizontal, watching Glastonbury. 😄
Indeed, the day out felt like a mini holiday. Having paid to cross the most expensive sea crossing per mile in the world, we had to make the most of it. 😂
Not quite sure how it’s possible to manage a 2.5k walk to the hovercraft terminal, a parkrun, a long coastal walk and then the return walk from the hovercraft, but then I am unfortunately not what I once was! Glad you enjoyed it including the short ‘flight’.
Sounds like a lovely day out 😊 We followed my parkrun with a 23k bike ride into Ayr and back to find out what we’d missed (not much as it turns out!) Shattered now 😂
38th parkrun today at Lister Park in 31.06 not a great time I put that down to hay-fever this week the weather was wet and not so nice 😕. Got back to the car and a parking ticket on the window no double yellows or signs but I'm partially on a dropped kerb with dots on and your not supposed to park on them brilliant didn't even see them.Tried to pay all day and it won't let me what a pain!!!!
A warm morning today at Portsmouth Lakeside - in fact it was so dry that we had some dust thrown up by runners around the lake rather than the usual puddle splashes! Under those circumstances an improvement on last week was unlikely so I was quite happy with 32.21. Back to the leafletting and canvassing now!
We got up at 4am this morning to drive to the outskirts of London to get the tube to Clapham Common for the Pride parkrun Fordy get-together.
It’s a big parkrun, well over 900 today, and unlike other parkruns we’ve done with them, the Fordys were actually outnumbered by the ‘locals’. It’s a two lap course around the reasonably sized park. It was very congested for the first km and also very dusty. The dust actually got on my chest about half way and I thought I was going to have to walk but thankfully it shifted. We both ran fast enough to be of use as bar code scanners and we also helped with close down. It was nice to get a little synchronicity with my 170th run and 160th volunteer. I’m hoping I can get both 250s at the same time when the time comes 🤞
After the run we all met up at the Pear Tree Cafe for an iced latte and cake, then a few of us met up at the pub. Unfortunately we really didn’t have the energy left to join them when they went to watch the Pride celebrations, so we wound our way back up to the top of the Northern line and made our way back home again.
I had a nap when I got home and the dust was still on my chest. Suffice to say, I won’t be doing Marathon de Sables (ultra marathon in the Sahara Desert) anytime soon 🫢 Still, it was a lovely day otherwise, and so good to meet up with the Fordy crowd again. We also get to tick off another CC on our made up 10CC challenge 👍
The Fordys do it again! Hope you’ve got all that dust off your chest now TC, it was a bit like that when we did Bushy a few years ago. I’ve not got up as early as that for parkrun, but you two are on another level.
Hi guys !! Ran Cannon Hill Park run (Bham) 610 runners , so a good turn out . Mostly a flat course ,a pleasant green and leafy setting, well marsheled , friendly, and conditions just about perfect for running!!
I ran with my future son in law (just recovered from covid ) his first outing in 3 weeks- I recorded a new Pb of 26:43 average pace of 5:21 per K - taking 42 seconds off previous best !! So pleased with our efforts yesterday- celebrated with coffee and cake at the Midlands Art Centre - buzzing!! Well done fellow runners for getting out there and doing your thing -
Well done Fit4life, that’s a great PB! We’ve done that one a couple of times - it’s got a nasty bit at the end where you have to get to the funnel but it is a pretty park
