Roll up Roll up for the next 10k plan 🤩

Roll up Roll up for the next 10k plan 🤩

1.I will be starting the next rolling 10k plan on the 20th of April.

2. It will last for 8 weeks so we have consolidation time which is really important ( so there will be 2 weeks the same).

3. It will be a rolling plan. The first week will have the plan and then it will be a weekly post to update on progress etc.

4. Anyone can join at anytime, and it’s a great way to get the support at whatever point you are at.

No doubt it will tweak as we learn. Please do message me any feedback on what can be improved or changed. I welcome this feedback :)

Please reply here if you would like to be in the next one and I will add you to the list 😎😎😎

Hi Ju-Ju . Can you sign me up please. I have been doing your 10 k anyway as I was not sure I could do it. Next week is my 9k and then I have just the 10 k after that which fingers crossed will be the week starting the 23rd.

I intend to have a weeks rest before I start the official 10 k so would be starting on the 30th April, one week late, would that be OK??

Tired & stiff as to be expected but enjoying it and will enjoy starting again (-:

Hi Dindy, yes that sounds like a good plan and of course that’s OK. The plan is rolling so the idea is you can follow, pick up bits or use the weekly posts to update on progress and get support etc. Having the weekly check in gives some structure and ideally keeps people on track for where they are. Rest your tired muscles and get the legs fresh for your next run 😎

Hi Juju. I’m going to give your plan a go. I’m not sure that I’m ready for it but I’ll give it a go. I’ve just completed C25K and did a parkrun a week ago. I took the parkrun steady and I could have carried on running but I’m not sure I would have done so well if I hadn’t had my neighbour as a running buddy. At the moment I feel I need a plan but is this just C25K withdrawal 😄.

You’ll do it Clarrie, I went straight from C25K and found the 10k programme easier.... good luck 😊

Some people consolidate the 5k distance, others need structure. When I finished C25k I really needed to keep going to 10k etc, we are all different. So if you would like to do it that’s absolutely great and I will add you on 😎

Oh, please sign me up! I need a new challenge. At the moment I seriously doubt I could ever run more than 6k, but won’t find out unless I try, right?!

I’m in Matlock on biking weekend and decided to do 3k at a local park this afternoon with my brother. Just a gentle jog, no niggles with the hamstring thank goodness.

I’ll try a 5k on Tues then take it from there 😊

I didn’t think I would ever be able to run for 30 minutes when I started C25k, I laughed when I heard Laura say that. However I have now run 3 marathons..... it’s about the mental steps more than the physical tbh. Come on the journey with us and we will help you get there 😎

Hi JuJu. I’d like to give it a try. I rashly signed up for an all women’s 10K in Dublin on 3rd June. It’s a major event so couldn’t resist and thought it would give me an incentive after C25K. Bit too soon for such an increase in distance but hey. I unofficially started your programme 2 days ago and planning a Park Run tomorrow.

Brilliant... the plan has 2 factored in rests to consolidate etc so please don’t worry, you’ve got this 😎

Reply

I'm going to give it a try. It will work out perfectly with the last run ending on my race day. Thankfully I signed up for a 10k walk/run for my first ever race. There isn't pressure for me to have to run the whole thing. But I will try my best and see how it goes! Thank you for doing this!!

Me too please! Yes, really this time. Finally got myself back to 5k and, so long as I do it on the treadmill rather than outside, my hip doesn't complain (outside is a different story, I really don't understand why). I will probably do it have to base progress on increasing times (using my last outdoor pace to calculate the distance) as my secondhand treadmill doesn't seem very accurate. Boredom is likely to be a big challenge I think :(

Not confident my hip will make it to 10K in 8 weeks, but delighted to at least be in a position to start at long last. Excited to get started. Thanks for this ju-ju- :)

Brilliant. Have you seen a physio for your hip? Strengthening exercises? Music or podcasts for boredom? You could always do each week twice as lots of people do?

Was hoping to avoid cost of physio but it has been rather a long time now so i may have to consider that ... I've downloaded a stack of desert island discs podcasts in readiness :D

Perfect..... it’s so good to have a structure to keep us going....

Reply

Hi - I’d like to sign up too please. Graduated to 5k in March and really miss the structure of a plan. I’ve done a few more 5ks since then but I’m not really built for speed and it hurts my knees if I try to go too much faster so thought I’d try and build on endurance and try and go further instead!

To keep me at it I have also invested in a running watch so that my conscience will also nag me to get out there and use it to justify the extravagance!!

Great, and good plan, that sounds sensible.

I am due to graduate C25K on Saturday (21st). What shall I do next? Consolidate? I’m still at 35 mins 5k. Shall I target 30 min 5k first or can I go straight into 10k plan?

Reply

Entirely up to you.... there are lots of options, have a read of the stuff on here, have a think and use us to help you get there. What would you like to achieve?

Reply

I’ll give it a go. I’m dubious about ever being able to do 10k as 5k nearly kills me. However, I thought I’d never do a 5k 8 weeks ago so I’ll see what happens. Think I’ll sign up for the local 10k run which is in September. Good timing I reckon. Keep with me ju-ju! 👍🏽

Hello Ju-Ju, could I join please? Finished C25K at the end of March but didn’t get to 5K. Not done a lot of running since due to holidays, visitors and a horrible cold, but managed 5K yesterday, mainly running apart from the very wet muddy parts I had to walk (wade) through. Took me over 50 minutes though! Hopefully I’ll be ok to get to 10K with some structure to motivate me to get out and running regularly! Thank you, Helen x
