Has anyone read DARE?

So I have suffered anxiety and panic attacks for many years and just recently started reading a self help Anxiety/panic recovery book called DARE. It has really helped me with a different approach to my symptoms. It’s hard to comprehend that we do this to ourselves and the symptoms will not kill us.

Welcome to the start of your recovery. I've not read the book but believe it follows the exact same principles published by Dr Claire Weekes all those years ago and that is learning to accept tbe thoughts and feelings created by anxiety instead of fighting them or doing anything to try and rid yourself of them.

I’ve read dr Claire Weeks book but not date yet. But I am thinking of getting it and I have the date app.

DARE is excellent.

Yes as oicuamy states, a different approach to interpreting your symptoms IS the cure for anxiety. And that is the approach/emphasis you will find in DARE.

I've posted my favorite resources several times, and I'd say DARE would be my next one on the list. Here are the essential, must-have, absolutely indispensable resources for anxiety recovery IMO:

Claire Weekes- her books her audio and there r some videos out there too. The best I’ve found is here: youtu.be/REOdAWCv-BQ

Paul David’s book “At last a life”

Dr David carbonell’s website

Acoachcalledlife.com- Swamy G’s website (note that Swamy takes a casual approach to marijuana use- which I happen to disagree with. Otherwise, everything on this site is excellent and spot-on IMO)

Hugo rock’s website

One more: “nothing works”- an amazing online essay on anxiety from an ex-sufferer. Link here: web.archive.org/web/2013092...

DARE has the same/similar content essentially. I find these other resources I listed a little more accessible but DARE is really good!

Thumbs up too to Paul David, a prime example of how to recover from someone who has first hand experience. The blog on his website is a gold mine for those practising acceptance.

Let the storm within rage, acknowlege it, and go with the flow, resisting none of it.
